Where do you stand politically? Take the quiz!!!

I agree with that on some of the questions but took it anyway.

BTW, that question and the choices demonstrates one of your favorite fallacies: complex question fallacy.

To wit: There are two questions.

1. Do you support smaller government or bigger government, whatever that means?
2. Do you support fewer services or more services, whatever those services are?

That was the first question(s) I was presented with. How was I able to answer that? So I just picked the 2nd option.

The first question wasn't a complex question fallacy. But it was something of an existential fallacy. That is, it gives you two conditions that are not inclusive. You can have more government and fewer services, and less government with more services. You should also have the option of the government as is. The assumptions in the question are:

1. Government size will change
2. That government size = the amount of services offered.

Of course, that takes you into the weeds so-to-speak...

I do not like this one because it's too ambiguous. What services? What do smaller and bigger governments mean?

But I am taking the quiz anyway.

It's a tendencies quiz. Go with your gut; read the question and go with your gut. Don't read into it.

Exactly. The size of government != the number of services offered.

Well I did that. But I don't like how it mislead me. Need a better quiz with more explanation.

It's not misleading, just simplified. While there's a lot of bullshit tests out there, Pew is not only respectable but has a shitload of data to draw from.

They'll test Conservatives and Liberals for all their traits with extensive tests. Once a person's political beliefs are known, researchers can reverse engineer short quizzes like this by running them through known Conservatives and Liberals to see how they answered. Once that's known, then when you or I take the test our answers are compared to their main database to see where we fit.

All that said, results count. Was anyone really surprised by their own results? The fun part is seeing where everyone else came out.

Consider this: T.A. and I are on opposite ends of breaking our oaths, overthrowing the government and installing a dictator as President for Life but we both scored the same on the Personality test and also this Political test. go figure. :)

You mean those questions are designed to separate people, regardless of how misleading they are? I can go with that. Liberals think. Conservatives just have trigger responses.

There's no misleading because there's no wrong answer. You're looking at it like a math problem where there's only one correct answer. This, like the personality test, is to reveal tendencies. Stop reading too much into it. Go with your gut on tests like this.

That one bugged me too.

I am okay with other countries being superpower, as long as we all act responsible. Not go all the way out like Dr. Strangelove.

Well, the Strangelove movie assumed one insane person starts WW 3, not that the system itself was insane--at least until the Russians reveal their doomsday machine that they failed to tell anybody about...

The US can be one of several strong military powers and has proven at least mostly to be a benign military superpower when given that position (late 1940's to 1950's).

History shows that most of the time there are two or three competing military superpowers in play. Until the 19th century, these were regional in nature rather than global, the exceptions being Spain and Britain. What happens is the two sides vie for power using proxies and allies until things come to a head and a major war ensues. In the three-way, if the winner is the binary power, the stronger of the two will then consume the weaker.

Our elites tend to be superficial, ignorant, and generally low quality people.

That is a HUGE motherfucking problem.

As we have seen in the Vietnam War, Korean War, and others.

What I think? Those proxies are just a way to keep the rich elite in control and rich. "Don't fight in my land. Let's fight over there" is their motto.
