Personality profile, no (generally).

The test methodology pigeonholes Democratic Mainstay as fairly moderate, but then they say the plurality of black Americans are in this category. Black Americans strike me as the most economically liberal of any demographic out there.

Exactly.

Psych tests are usually double blinds to prevent telegraphing answers. For example; the DNC wouldn't use this test directly when looking for volunteers; they'd hire a third party to go to colleges to offer testing. This is to avoid people fudging answers for the job. Once the DNC had the results, they'd contact suitable volunteers from the results for further testing or a job interview.

Depending upon their needs, they would obviously avoid "Stressed Sideliners" and those Right of Center but they might also avoid fanatics like "Progressive Left" to hire office workers but contact the latter to hand out flyers or be notified of protests.

It depends upon the test methodology. How they came up with the categories, percentages and scores in order to place test takers is the methodology. Since Pew is a respected group, I trust their methodology was/is peer reviewed.
