Counting ballots for a significant amount of time has been happening for decades. I don't love it. I'd like to know results for every race sooner rather than later, but each state makes their own laws regarding mail-in ballots and when they can be processed. That's just how it goes. Would you prefer a federal takeover of the election process?

Taking time to count ballots doesn't make it easier for election fraud. If anything, it makes it harder because there is more time for oversight of the process.

No it hasn't. It's a fairly new thing. I'm pretty young, but I'm still old enough to have personally witnessed election NIGHTS instead of (s)election WEEKS.

I'd prefer elections in which fraud is kept to a minimum. That includes paper ballots (no computers), mandated voter ID, voting in person (NO MASS MAILING OF BALLOTS), no drop boxes, no (or extremely limited) early voting, and no "same-day registration".

Yes it has. It happens more often now because of the increased usage of mail-in ballots which take longer to count. It also only matters in close races. Trump was announced the winner on Election night. Kari Lake took a little less than a week. That's how it works and has nothing to do with fraud no matter how badly you want it to.

No it is not a new thing you fucking asshat. What you 'personally witnessed' were elections where elections were called by media organizations. Not when every vote was counted on election night. Because that has never happened. That's not how it works. That's not how it has ever worked.

Except it is hard to introduce fraudulent ballots when you have a number of people watching for an extended period of time and all the ballots are checked against the poll book to confirm that the numbers match up. There is time to confirm that all the ballots are secured. There is time to confirm that all ballots are counted properly.

Fraud requires speed to not be caught. It's like a magic trick, it needs to be done quickly to avoid the audience seeing how it is done. If you give the audience a half hour to watch one card trick they will figure it out as opposed to doing it in a couple of seconds.

If counting fake ballots is meaningless then that would mean that fake ballots can't affect the outcome of an election.

That's the funny thing about reality. You don't have to keep telling yourself it is true because it is true.
The truth is that no national election in US history has been completed with all votes counted by the midnight of that day. Only those of you out of touch with reality thinks that the elections are completed that quickly.
