Whoa. Bikini Karen Loses It in Brazil.

OK. Brazil is a more racially mixed country than the US, so it may have been a 'class' issue, rather than a 'racial' issue. Sometimes it's easy to get the two confused. (Don't know much about it, just looking for clarification)
It's a Hilton. I'm guessing none of them are locals. Brazil is pretty much a shithole, save for tourist destinations. Quite a few MMA fighters from Brazil speak of a horrid upbringing.

Reading his posts, my cat has had more education than he has.

TBH, I think he was suffering from more than a simple lack of education. He logged on didn't he? Even if he was the bathroom attendant at Cape Canaveral for 20 years, he had to pass a security clearance. Those things strike me as indicators of someone who isn't a complete dumbass.

Dumbasses rob liquor stores for $30, not sweep floors at NASA. :flagsal:

As with many here, he's obviously elderly and, IMHO, suffering more than his fair share of mental issues.** Brain damage from strokes or hits to the head cause many problems. My guess is a stroke, which wuld 'splain the spellin'. Although I think he self-medicate which would explain good days and bad.

OTOH, maybe he's just an old geezer who gets shit-faced every day and cusses at people like the assholes on porches with canes...but outside of a kid's rock throwing range. ;)

** I'm not a psychiatrist and mostly studied behaviorism, but getting to know a disturbed person enough to identify probable causes of their disturbances is interesting to me and doable.

Did you see the med student who spotted a cancerous mole on a hockey coach's neck?

The first night I was in Rio I went to a bar and caught a cab back to the hotel (I didn’t have a cell phone). Cab driver starts bombing through red lights. I honestly thought I was done for. It’s a really weird being in that position and having that feeling. Turns out in the evening there they basically treat red lights as yield signs because if you stop you’re getting robbed/jacked. Wish I had known that prior…

I walked across a street in Rio and almost got run over by a Cab driver. Literally inches from me. I had a cigarette, and flipped it inside his car, hopefully hitting him in the face with it.

(Did you take the Trolly ride up Sugar Loaf mountain?)

I did. I'm scared of heights and my recollection is it scared the bejeezus out of me.

What is the claim that institutions of higher learning are baked in system racism?

I probably pay more attention to this than I should considering I don't work in academia but here are some sample stories.

UC Berkeley black students demand fixes to 'hostile’ climate

Black students at UC Berkeley often feel isolated and even oppressed, says a campus group that wants the nation’s premier public university to step up recruitment of African American students and improve support for them.

I believe it was Halloween 2015 at Princeton when they had the big controversy over an email a couple of professors sent out about costumes and the claim was the campus was hostile and unsafe for minorities and eventually the professors left.

Here's a recent one:

"It was never meant for us”: BIPOC students on why the Ivy League is failing them

There was the controversy last year with the Georgetown Law Professor who got caught on a hot mic saying that black students consistently were in the lower percentage performance wise in her class. She wasn't saying it in a "they are inferior" type way rather more this is reality and what can we do to improve it. But being a white woman you aren't allowed to make that remark and she got fired and the professor who was on the other end of the zoom call was forced to resign for not speaking out against her when she said. It made national news and was used to show that even these elite schools are racist and hostile to P.O.C.

These are just several examples but it's quite the common theme. I'm not saying I agree with the claim but its very prevalent. Then you also have the claims that elite Universities don't do enough to nurture and promote minority professors. Again, white privilege and systemic racism at work is the argument.

I have PMP on ignore for almost a decade. I assumed he quoted me, because even though it's been years since he's gotten a response, he still quotes me.

I guess he addressed you when Grumpy made his comment.

I always quote people when they post stupid thing........the fact you have me on ignore does not mean you don't post stupid things...

How come nobody wants to be reminded about the whole shit hole country thing? I know I know,......because it was all just partisan political hackery BULLSHIT in the 1st place. I get it... ;)

Well, white privilege and systemic racism are undoubtable. As far as universities being baked in systemic racism, mine wasn't. I can't speak for the others. I just know that racism is a part of daily life for minorities.
