Math, stats, chemistry, physics, astronomy, computers don't have any political persuasion. That can go a long way to explaining why those steeped in those fields
might tend to be conservative by default, having not studied humanities, political science, sociology, psychology etc. If you don't study something, it's hard to be good at it.
