200 large. wow. i bet you are highly educated!! there might be some college graduates making 12 bucks an hour, and some who owe "200 large," but that was not their intent, they wanted to aim higher, and were willing to take a risk to get an education and make it so. the fact they were willing to try makes them a grade above those who settle for less, to some extent. the real problem is that higher education for more people is better for our country as a whole and it should not be so expensive FOR ANYONE. if only so they are less likely to vote for racist, sexist, lying chickenshits like trump.

Paglia was there, her description of the mechanics of the breakdown of the University from the 60's onward is both rare in quality and important.
 
Jordan is no slacker in this conversation, but he is younger and he has spent a lot of time outside of the University so he has less to say about how the collapse happened.

Great piece except Victor and I disagree about the original sin....I say that it was the GI Bill....that the Universities set out to suck up all that money especially after the Korean conflict then standards and competence of university leadership tanked, then the student rebellions really crushed the place as the universities capitulated in mass just as Allan Bloom said in "The Closing of the American Mind". We do agree that the Universities expanding too fast was the problem though. They were overly stretched, then they crashed, and now we are really fucked.

Given the majority of those working on vaccines for Covid came up with solutions within a year proves colleges can't be doing that bad, or wait, did you think all those scientists and medical professionals were educated at Trump U?

I know one thing, I have never seen anyone so depressed, deflated, or so negative in my entire life!

The man needs an attitude adjustment or something positive in his life- and fast!
