And yes, I know it was a slow recovery, I'm not arguing that Obama was perfect. Just saying that the recovery started and continued under him.

Just out of curiosity, what do you think of Reagan for all of those bad things he did, that today are considered left-wing? Do you think modern Conservatives would like Reagan considering he did so many things that the Right always accuses the Left of doing?

So what do you think turned things around?
Reagan used trickle down economics, which are disastrous for the economy and especially the middle-class. If you want details on that, check out the article.
I also think it was a huge mistake that he raised the debt ceiling, gave illegals amnesty, raised taxes, and increased the size of government.

There wasn't a turn-around during the Obama reign. The economy was growing at a shitty rate if at all, and the labor participation rate was dismal.

Scary stupid response. The economic trajectory in Trump's economy is exactly what Obama left him. What has Trump enacted that made the economy better, fairer or more equitable? He hammered another Repub tax cut through to benefit the upper 1 percent. He cranked the debt up about 2 trillion. Repugs used to pretend they cared about that. Now they are silent.
Obama was greeted with a near second great depression due to Repub policies. Were you in grade school in 2007 and 8? He solved the mess and put the economy on an upward trajectory that Trump claims credit for. Trump has done nothing with the economy but take credit for what Obama did.

In 2008 I had about two dozen clients, all building contractors. That year I did 10 commercial buildings.
In the two years that followed 60% of my clients went belly-up or retired early. I did zero commercial buildings in 2009, 2010. In 2011 I did one, a government building. Things were only slowly improving during the remainder of The Obama. One of the largest contractors in the area, in business for over 100 years, called it quits.
Once Trump was elected several of my old clients came back. 2018 was my best year, except for 2019 which was even better.
The reason for all this is because The Obama was a terrible thing for the economy and Trump is a great thing.
