I just can't wrap my head around people wanting to vote for people who intentionally want to exclude Blacks and other Minority Americans from society. IDGAF how good they are in their districts. How they treat others is my concern.

I'm glad that you've accepted you've made that mistake. That's a lot more than most people here can do.
It's something I totally hate about American politics and the 24 hour news network. I just hope that most Americans don't fall for it and it's just a case of the loud minority getting all the attention.

Just based on what I've seen, it's not that people who support Trump are racists, it's that they're ok with racism. You might call that splitting hairs, and that's fair, but I see it as a noteworthy difference. If Ben Carson ran in a general election, Republicans would support him because most of them don't hate Blacks, they're just willing to look the other way on anti-black racism.

Maybe we're talking about two different things but American politics have been rife with tribalism for a long time.

Well what I mean is that it might just seem that way because the loudest people, the people on TV, the people involved in politics, they're all wing nuts. Whereas maybe average Americans don't blindly side with the Left or the Right. But it's just a hope I have. It might actually be as bad as it seems.

On that I agree in the sense not everyone follows politics religiously and not everyone is an ideologue or partisan. And yes it is often the loudest voices that get heard but being the loudest doesn't necessarily mean one is correct or that lots of people agree with them. And contrary to what seem here there actually are people that vote for both parties.

With that being said it could be argued tribalism is getting even stronger and there are less conservative Dems and liberal Republicans like in the past.
