Wisconsin, the answer is before you. We are at the cusp of the SOCIALIST REVOLUTION!

In America, unionization is difficult primarily because of the Taft-Hartley act. Now, this is in the end a result of the left passing the Wagner act. Under the Wagner act, unions had a pretty sweet deal. They could just run an election, get 50% of the votes, and become the official union for everybody at the company, and everyone now had to be parts of the union, whether they wanted to or not. The Taft-Hartley act, however, made it so that states could pass "right-to-work" laws, which prevented companies from making deals with unions that required everyone hired there to be part of the union. However, the union still has to represent everyone in the company, and I believe it also required all members of unions to get the same benefits package, because that's one of the provisions of the Wagner act. So in these states, literally the only reason you'd be in a union is if you want to pay union dues. Otherwise you get all of the benefits of being in a union. Taft-Hartley also explicitly prevent unionization for at most managerial and professional levels (which is one reason unions are only associated with blue-collar workers).

I'd like to revert back to how it was before the Taft-Hartley and Wagner acts. Unions should simply be organizations that workers choose to join, and union shouldn't have to represent non-members.

I've decided to be on the side of the conservatives here. Wisconsin government workers are useless and overpaid. They should just feel lucky we don't yank their jobs. Ungreatful welches.

Also, Crashk, you're an unabridged idiot if you think that one of the tenants of Libertarianism is anti-unionism. Libertarians support unions as a viable, non government approach, to marketplace regulation.

Wisconsin is a fail state. The only thing they have is cheese. Supporters of wisconsin are supporters of mediocrity. Those that look upon wisconsin with favor MUST and WILL be purged. Oh how glorious that day will be, when the proles ashes are scattered before my feet. I will take great joy in kicking their dusty bones asunder.

they do brats and beer pretty well up there too...

Man Billy, I can't believe you said that about Wisconsin. Some of the best breweries and microbreweries in the nation are in Wisconsin.

BTW, have you tried the orginal formula Schlitz lately? It's the orginal formula that was pretty much unchanged till 1960. Drink one of those and then drink a bud light and you'll get an idea of how badly beer went down hill in the 60's and 70's.

Like hell. You ever try Leinenkugels? Chippewa Falls finest. They were making craft beers long before they were popular or before the microbrew fads of the 80's.
Eh, they're OK. I mean for a moderate price they're better than your BMC macros that come out of WI. But WI micros cannot compare to micros on either coast or MI micros.

I'd also like to revert back to when the Democrats, like FDR, were smart enough to warn against Public Sector Unions. Essentially buying the man you are going to "negotiate" with later is not something sentient humans support, and for good reason.

Well, in the case of Wisconsin, the other side won, so the unions didn't buy the guy the were negotiating with, did they, so your argument, FAILS, but the other side bought him, and they are the ones reaping the rewards this time!

I guess then that no one who needs something from the government should be able to contribute to the campaign, like the Koch brothers, say, for instance and no bid contracts.
