Plato was the republican, after all he wrote a book about it. I like to think Aristotle was a lefty, after all, he thought about empiricism and dissed the idea of (Platonic) idealism (ie Republican propaganda).

Aristotle was from Macedonia originally and he was Alexander's tutor so I think it's possible that Aristotle had the greatest influence on him.
