Would the US be better off without the South?

Should we let the South succeed?

It's impossible for a lot of people in the US south to start to pull for their side and against the Republican party. Their racism problem just runs too deep even today. But after Obama their problem will be defused and they will fall into line against the force that is obviously holding nearly all Americans down.

There is no need to separate from the south and besides, it's an impossibility anyway.

What if they are the force that holds us down? No other third world region does as much damage to this nation as the South. At least not economically. Not China or Mexico. The greatest third world threat to the US is the South.

They're always going to hold your country down to some extent because of their backwardness, both in race relations and in their religious beliefs that keep them down. But once Obama, their big problem, is gone then at least I see a workable situation again developing. Simply put, America wasn't ready for a smart black president and it's put your country back 40 or 50 years in race problems. Too bad because wonderful things could have happened after the Bush2 experience that nearly destroyed your country.

I think the Republican party probably recognizes that it's going to have to mend it's ways and come back to some semblance of reality. When racism is defused then ordinary people have to be smart enough to start voting for their own interests. Racist motivated hate is killing any chance of progress that Obama intended.

Tea baggers will suddenly come to an understanding of what's good for them and where they belong. This will fractionalize their parties as the extreme right element will not be acceptable any longer to the majority of them. And the libertarian ideas will fall by the wayside as they come to realize that is a deadend fringe movement with no hope of ever being a political force.

It will take some clever work by the Democrat politicians but they have had lots of time to plan it. And then of course, the blacks will fall into line because they don't really have a choice.

I wish what you were saying is true. But I don't think you're going to see that change. What needs to happen is reforming the south so that they adopt the norths 21st century US values and reject the white 18th century traditional European values they cling so desperately too.

We tried to bring them forward in time twice at the point of a gun and both time it failed. They still remain an 18th century fuedal third world society. How do we change that? Can we change them? Can the south be reformed? They have proven they will not be coerced into modernity.

What about your racism, Monty old boy? (And I'll assume you're white, native American Indian, or Hispanic) If I shook your family tree, there'd be racists falling out all over the place. You Yankee liberals are the most pathetic buck passers due to your compulsory brainwashing in school over racism.
