It's nice to be able agree on a couple of things....
And not necessary to agree on everything as we have said many times.... And yes, civil debate is very much appreciated and actually happens at times...The best ideas have already won, last November.

Did you know it is illegal to fly an American flag in Mexico. Official functions are exempt. But for the average Jose, you can't put the stars and stripes on a bumper sticker, or your back window in your car, or fly old glory in front of your house? Only the Mexican flag may be displayed.
Now think of how many Mexican flags you see every day? I'm in Southern California, I see far more Mexican flags than American flags.
Mexico is right - they prohibit flying the flags of other nations because it is divisive, it disrupts national unity.
Destroying national unity and the common culture that binds us is the goal of the left. Decent people must find what we have in common that unites us.

You can't start a thread like this and then attack the very basis of those you are pretending to offer an olive branch to.
This thread is not serious and I won't take it as such.
Societies must have at least a few core beliefs/myths/ideals held in common if they are to work, and a common language is very helpful.
I dont know that it however needs to go much beyond a belief that the truth exists and should be told, that we should give others as much room as possible to make up their own mind and run their own life, dont be cruel, and that we all sign up for the promise contained in the Constitution.
