Cops found the bodies of a married couple in their Bergenfield, NJ, home Saturday after their traumatized 11-year-old son reported that his parents were not breathing.

Acting Bergen County Prosecutor Gurbir Grewal told NJ.com that when cops arrived, they discovered a 44-year-old man in the basement with an apparently self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.

A 36-year-old woman was dead in an upstairs bedroom.

The tragedy appears to be “a domestic-violence- based murder-suicide.’’ The victims’ identities were not released.

The boy was taken from the home by authorities and turned over to child-welfare officials.

The Walmart is located about 30 miles southeast of Dallas and surrounding schools were placed on temporary lockdown when police initially believed there may have been an active shooter, Dallas TV station WFAA reported on its Twitter feed.

There was no indication of an active shooter, the local sheriff's department told reporters.

An Elkhart woman has died from an accidental gunshot wound to the head by a child.

The incident occurred when a child picked up a rifle while in the room with an adult relative who was cleaning weapons. The gun discharged in the child's hand with the bullet going through a closed door, hitting a female relative in the head.

Deputies responded, and the woman was transported to the Palestine Regional Medical Center where she died.

Kentucky State Police say a Bath County man has died after what they call an accidental shooting.

The shooting happened around noon at a home on Bethel Ridge Road, north of Owingsville.

State Police say Stephen Routt, 60, was shot when a disassembled firearm accidentally discharged while it was being stored for travel.

Routt died from his injuries.

A 17-year-old boy was charged with a felony in the accidental shooting of his friend in her home in the Grand Crossing neighborhood.

Relatives of Jasmine Snipe, 14, said she is expected to remain at Comer Children's Hospital for at least two more days.

The boy was holding the gun when it went off around 3:30 p.m. Snipe was shot in the neck.

Lyon County deputies and first responders were dispatched to the 1400 block of north Highway 99 at approximately 8:20 a.m.

Initial scanner traffic indicated that a woman had accidentally shot herself. It was not clear if she was cleaning the gun or handling it for another reason. The individual was alert and breathing when emergency responders arrived.

The patient was transported to Newman Regional Health for treatment. Newman does not release patient information.

A Louisiana man shot and killed his doctor at a hospital before walking outside and turning the gun on himself, authorities said Thursday.

The Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office identified the gunman as John P. Thomas, 73, in the murder-suicide. Police confirmed that Thomas was one of Dr. Elbert Goodier’s patients at East Jefferson General Hospital, WVUE-TV reported.

Thomas didn’t have a criminal past. But family members told police he suffered from a mental illness, according to the Fox affiliate.

“(Dr. Goodier was) a very nice guy," Jefferson Parish County Coroner Dr. Gerry Cvitanovich told WVUE-TV. "If you called him late at night, he was always prepared to help assist and take care of his patients."

Cvitanovich said he was with his mom at the hospital for a doctor’s appointment when someone came rushing in and said a doctor had been shot and killed.

Authorities said Thomas walked into Goodier’s office at the Metairie hospital and then killed the doctor while he was meeting with a patient at around 2:20 p.m.. Thomas then fled the scene and entered a nearby Wendy’s, saw a sheriff’s deputy and put the gun in his mouth and fired, police said.

"I think it's awful because we have very few murders in Metairie, and I personally come to that office, that building, many times over the last 10 years or better, and never hear anything like this. It's very, very depressing," Richard Wise, a neighbor, told WVUE-TV.

East Jefferson General Hospital President Dr. Mark J. Peters called Goodier’s death a “tragic loss.”

“Dr. Goodier was respected and beloved by all who had the privilege of knowing him. Our hearts and sympathies go out to his family, his friends, his staff and all who knew him,” Peters said in a statement. “Our chaplains are available should anyone wish to speak with them. We will be sending out more information as arrangements are made.”

According to the New Orleans Times-Picayune, Goodier, 75, was a board-certified urologist who had practiced medicine for 50 years around the New Orleans area. He was a graduate of the LSU School of Medicine, completed an internship at Charity Hospital and his residency at Ochsner Medical Center.

He is survived by his wife Catherine, his son Michael, and his two daughters Christine Ross and Gina Goodier, the hospital said.
