A 14-year-old was killed in Calaveras County after another teenager accidentally shot him, according to deputies. Family members identified the boy as Colby Fouch of West Point.

“Everybody loved Colby,” Mason Fouch, Colby’s adoptive brother said.

Mason Fouch sayid he ran to his brother’s side when he heard he had been shot. But when he saw him, he says he knew Colby wouldn’t make it.

“I already knew then. Seeing the hole in his throat, I knew it for a fact,” Mason said.

He said the 16-year-old who shot his brother was his friend and that the two boys were hanging out in a piece of land close to Colby’s house.

The sheriff's department said they were told the boys were bird hunting.

You'll whine like a bitch about them but nothing otherwise.

Interstate 57 was closed for several hours after another expressway shooting, this time claiming the life of a 39-year-old man.

Police said the driver was traveling southbound on I-57 in a Ford Fusion just before 10:30 p.m. when another car pulled up and someone inside opened fire.

The man was shot in the head and lost control of the vehicle, causing the car to bounce against the concrete barrier on the right side of the road before spinning across all lanes of traffic before hitting the left side concrete barrier on the opposite end.

No other passengers were in the vehicle at the time, police said. The driver was pronounced dead on the scene.

State police have been ramping up patrols because of the escalating number of expressway shootings and the immediate danger they are to the public.

The motive of the shooting is still unknown. No one is in custody.

A Good Samaritan was shot to death when he apparently tried to protect a woman who was arguing with a man along a street in southwest Houston.

The shooting happened about 12:30 a.m. in the 7100 block of Troulon Drive near Lugary Drive, said Sgt. Kenneth Daignault, a homicide investigator with the Houston Police Department.

Daignault said a the victim was sitting in his car parked along the street when he saw a man and woman having an argument. The argument possibly turned physical and the Good Samaritan got out of his car and intervened to protect the woman. That's when the man arguing with her pulled out a gun and shot the victim.

The wounded man was rushed to a nearby hospital, but he died. His name has not been released.

Daignault said the gunman left after the shooting. Officers later were told he was hiding along a nearby bayou. They found him and took him into custody. He had a gun.

Daignault said it was unclear what sparked the argument between the man and woman. Investigators are interviewing them as well as other people who were witnesses. It does not appear the man and woman knew the victim.
