A woman was reportedly killed in what is being investigated as an accidental shooting, Friday, June 3, according to officials. The fatal shooting incident occurred in the 29200 block of Garnet, in the unincorporated community of French Valley. Garnet Street is located just south of Newport Road and east of Menifee Road.

“This is being investigated as an accidental shooting,” Riverside County Sheriff’s Captain Brandon Ford explained. “The victim was transported to a hospital.”

The victim reportedly succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead at a local area hospital, according to two family members – brothers of the victim – who wished to remain anonymous. According to the two men, the victim, whom they identified as their sister, died after being transported to an area hospital.

Deputies from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Menifee Police Station responded to the location – a quiet residential neighborhood – after Riverside County emergency communications dispatchers received a 911 call from a frantic family member reporting the shooting. At least one or more neighbors also called 911 to report hearing shots fired in the area.

Khalil Burt was accidentally shot by a 10-year-old boy last week. His funeral was on Friday afternoon.

Roanoke's Commonwealth Attorney Don Caldwell said an adult who had access to the home admitted leaving the gun there.

He said it's too early to tell if any charges will be placed against any adults, but said it's highly unlikely the 10-year-old boy who pulled the trigger will face any charges.

Authorities say a father shot and killed his 1-year-old daughter before killing himself at a home in Ohio.

The Highland County sheriff's office says deputies responded to reports of a shooting and found 35-year-old Timothy Harewood dead with an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Investigators say they also found his 1-year-old daughter dead inside the home with what appeared to be a single gunshot wound.

Witnesses told authorities that Harewood shot his daughter and then tried to shoot the girl's mother, who was sitting outside, but the gun misfired. A news release from the sheriff's office says that's when Harewood then turned the gun on himself.

The sheriff's office says Harewood struck the woman's face during the confrontation.
