The Middlesex District Attorney's Office, Massachusetts State Police and Stoneham Police are currently investigating a fatal shooting that occurred around 11:10 p.m. last night inside a home on Congress Street in Stoneham.

Patrick O'Connor, 23, has been arrested in connection with this incident. He has been charged with involuntary manslaughter, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon causing serious bodily injury and discharging a firearm.

He will be arraigned today in Woburn District Court.

The victim, David Atherton, 24, a Stoneham firefighter, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The preliminary investigation into this matter suggests the two were drinking alcohol and passing a gun back and forth, pointing it at each other. Police believe the fatal shooting may have been an unintended consequence of this behavior.

Morgan Palmiter, a detective with the Daviess County Sheriff's Department, said deputies were called to Daviess County Fish and Game, 1370 S. Chestnut Grove Road, at 10:30 a.m. to a report of a shooting. Palmiter said when deputies arrived, they found a 73-year-old woman who had been shot in the chest near the shooting area.

How many deaths have you engaged because of auto accidents? Drugs? Cell phone texting while driving? What exactly is your point? Ignorant and careless people die because of their careless stupidity? Or are you once again, cherry picking accidents because of some parroted political agenda? Where is "feigned" outrage over the tool that takes more US lives than any gun has ever taken in the history of the United States...to include all the wars. That damn evil ass automobile. I believe we should lobby congress to ban all private ownership of transportation and place BIG BROTHER in charge of delivering all of us on our daily chores and duties via PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION...all of course with an EXTRA TAX. :)

A community in East Orange remains in shock from tragedy after a 5-year-old boy accidentally shot his 4-year-old brother, killing him.

Reports indicate the incident occurred at around 11 a.m., when the two boys were playing with a gun. The older boy accidentally discharged the weapon, shooting the younger boy.

After undergoing emergency surgery, the boy was pronounced dead as doctors at University Hospital in Newark could not save him.

A person was found shot to death Thursday night on the porch of a Charleston home, police said.

The slaying was reported about 11:30 p.m. at 24 Flood St., a block south of Burke High School on the Charleston peninsula.

Charleston Police Department spokesman Charles Francis said officers came across the male victim on the porch.

No details about what led to the shooting were available.

Francis said no arrests have been made in the death, the sixth homicide reported this year in Charleston. It was the 32nd slaying so far in 2016 in the tri-county area.

A man was found shot to death late Thursday night along U.S. 59 in northeast Houston.

The man was found about 11 p.m. along the 6300 block of the Eastex Freeway service road near Melbourne, according to the Houston Police Department.

Police said residents in the area reported hearing gunshots and then one of them looked outside and spotted the wounded man lying on the ground. He had been shot more than once.

A man was found fatally shot in a South Minneapolis street, and police are investigating.

Officers responded to a report of a possible shooting in the area of East 24th Street and Oakland Avenue South at 8:18 a.m.

They found the victim, who was declared dead by paramedics.

The man wasn’t immediately identified pending autopsy by the Hennepin County medical examiner’s office.

The fatal shooting was the second of the week in Minneapolis.

Shortly after 11 p.m. Monday, officers responding to a reported shooting in the 1800 block of Penn Avenue North found a young woman fatally shot in the chest inside a car.

New details on the murder investigation of Melody Cerros, 14.

The teen was found shot to death in the garage of a northwest side home and police have recovered a weapon from the property.

They're now investigating whether or not it was the gun used in the shooting.

"I know that particular house the garage has a separate entrance," said neighbor Jay Teper who has lived across the street for 17 years.

I want them banned...they are EVIL. Only Big Brother and the Military should have access to a POV. Its for the good of our children...look how many children are killed each year by that dangerous tool. Nearly a million world wide are killed by that evil entity. Maybe we should pile them up like books and have a good old fashion fascist restitution...and burn them in order to melt them into plow sheers. :good4u: After all its for our LITTLE CRIPPLED CHILDREN.

Life 101 22 years military protecting YOUR RIGHT to be wrong. My scholarship came from the pages of the Holy Scriptures..nothing more, its the only standard of truth. There are no versions of the truth...there is only THE TRUTH.
