The woman's black Labrador dog was also killed.

Police did not release the names of the individuals and declined to give their relationship Monday night, as their relatives were still being told of their deaths.

Three neighbors confirmed they were brother and sister.

Oceanside police found the bodies shortly before 4 p.m. Monday afternoon in separate bedrooms of their house near the end of a cul-de-sac on Via Metates, just east of College Boulevard.

2-year-old Dallas, Oregon boy has been upgraded from serious to fair condition after sustaining a gunshot wound.

Deputy Chief Tom Simpson with the Dallas Police Department (DPD) reports that the boy was shot in the abdomen.

He was transferred by Life Flight from West Valley Hospital (WVH) to Oregon Health and Sciences University (OHSU).

According to a DPD press release, OHSU officials say the bullet did not hit any vital organs.

Simpson reports that the boy sustained the gunshot wound at home, and was taken to the WVH Emergency Room by a private vehicle. DPD officers were called out to WVH a little after 7 p.m.

The investigation suggests that the boy was wounded when a .380 semi-automatic pistol accidentally discharged while he and his 3-year-old brother were in the same room of their family’s home, Simpson says.

However, initial reports that the 3-year-old allegedly discharged the weapon have not been confirmed.

Authorities say both parents were home at the time, but were in another room.
