The early morning shooting death of a 33-year-old woman Wednesday triggered the search for a trauma surgeon and forced the lockdown of a Buffalo hospital as police combed the grounds for the gunman.

A person familiar with the investigation told The Associated Press that police are looking for Timothy Jorden Jr. in connection with the shooting death of the woman in a stairwell at the Erie County Medical Center.

Atlanta police responded around 2:30 p.m. to a report of shots fired at the Gables 820 West apartments on West Marietta Street, Officer John Chafee told the AJC.



There, officers found a man's body in a breezeway, Chafee said.


The victim's name was not released.

Police are investigating after a Knott County man was shot during a domestic altercation.


The incident happened at about 6 a.m. at a home on on Spring Branch in the Pinetop community of Knott County.


Police say their preliminary investigation indicates that Donnie Gibson, 43, of Pinetop went to his daughter's home and confronted her boyfriend, 25-year-old Dillon Cornett.

Police say there are people they need to speak to after a man was shot several times in the driveway of a South Side home.

Dion Weatherspoon, 24, was found dead in the driveway of a Hilton Ave. home, according to police Chief Rod Foley.


His death is the 15th homicide in the city this year.

A 3-year-old child died from a gunshot wound Saturday afternoon.


Police officers answering a 911 call responded about 3:30 p.m. to the 11500 block of East 20th Street.

The child was dead when they arrived.


Police Capt. Ed Turner declined to say whether the shooting was accidental.

He said family members were cooperating with the investigation, which was continuing Saturday evening.


No one had been arrested, Turner said.

An all-day standoff between Alaska State Troopers, police in the town of Kotzebue and an armed suspect ended Sunday evening with the suspect dead, apparently at his own hand, troopers said.

A shootout early in the incident left one trooper seriously injured and another wounded by a round or shrapnel, troopers said.

Troopers identified the dead man as Arvid Nelson Jr. of Kotzebue.

Wilfredo Diaz, 28, of Camden, was shot to death Sunday near the intersection of South Sixth and Line streets in Camden, officials said.


Responding officers found Diaz in a blue Toyota Avalon not far from the scene of the shooting, near South Seventh and Washington streets.


"It appears Diaz got into his vehicle after being shot and attempted to flee from the scene but crashed," a news release said.


Diaz was taken to Cooper Hospital for treatment and died there.

Father and son shot to death



One woman, who did not wish to be identified, said she heard yelling outside her home around 10 p.m. Friday night, followed by several gunshots.


"I waited a little bit because I was afraid to look out, and then I looked outside, and I looked towards that way and there was a body in the street," said the woman. "I saw another body laying in the street."


Someone called 911, and when police arrived they found 49-year-old Ruben Archuleta, and his 21-year-old son, Ruben Junior, shot.


Ruben Sr. was dead on scene, and his son was rushed to the hospital where he died from his injuries.

The Robeson County Sheriff's Office is investigating after a man found his son apparently shot to death in his home.
