It specifically places power under purview of the king, it orders him to proclaim... not a proclamation from the Creator. It was established by a body of men, not endowed by our Creator. I am not arguing that the Magna Carter was no good, it just wasn't the sole basis for our own declaration of rights or independence from England. There is a fundamental difference in what our Founding Fathers established, and what was laid out in the Magna Carta, or anything else that had been tried before.

The words 'creator'? Hardly a world shattering addition.

Again, hardly a world-shattering addition. The Magna Carta was the people declaring their rights by the power of their own sovereignty, the US BOR was the people declaring their rights by the power of their own sovereignty with the addition of the word 'creator'.

Adding a term to existing concepts doesn't make you exceptional. That is grasping at straws.

Of the two, I would say the Magna Carta is the more exceptional as it is the people who created their own rights in the name of their own sovereignty, rather than the name of a god or monarch.

But it isn't exceptional. Magna Carta derives from much older concepts of individual freedom, as does the US BOR.

What I said has nothing to do with Religion. You want to connect "Creator" with "Religion" because most religious beliefs involve some entity credited with Creation, but the founding principles of our nation do not involve a specific religious dogma or belief.

I didn't specify one particular species of religion either...

You asked me why Americans thought of themselves as an "exceptional" nation, and I explained it to you. This is not an argument, it is dialogue. If you want to argue, go find someone to argue with.

Well, generally speaking, it is.... problem is, you haven't come up with something to debate! You asked a question, I gave you an answer, and you want to argue with my answer. Your argument is, you don't want to accept my answer. Now, my answer frankly doesn't care if you agree with it or accept it, and neither do I. It is just an answer, not an argument. So you need to find an issue we can discuss here, because so far, you have failed to.

Well you asked where the idea came from, and I told you. So far, you've not offered anything more than an opinion to the contrary. You don't believe America is exceptional.... that's fine, I disagree with you. I think I am keeping up just fine, it is you who seems to be debating without a debate.

I don't gamble. In fact when I think of Tahoe going to a casino doesn't even enter into my mind.

I used to live in South Shore...yeah, worked at Harah's. I never understood the lure of them. Locals avoided the casino's except for work, them being the major employer. The great thing about Tahoe is that there is just so much to do, no matter the season.

Before moving to Washingtom I owned a home up in the back country. You ever here of the Rubicon? The place of the Jeepers Jamboree. I practically lived at the start of the trail; the power literally ended about a mile past my place...God's country! Nothing like the Sierra Nevada's~~~
