A Judge doesn't ask for the incidentals, before issuing such a warrant.
What he does do, is have the ones asking for such a warrant to swear that they information they're using is factual.

Looks like Flynn, Manafort, Gates, and Papadopoulos will be home free once they have their attorneys notify the judge of these illegal shenanigans.

The court was not told why the dossier was compiled, namely as opposition research in a political race. That it's author was fired for breech of ethics, and finally that it had not been verified. That the Yahoo news article used as a separate source was from the same author as the dossier.
