Darla, the repugs have to have an excuse ready in case Palin flops. You just know it can't be palins fault.
BAAHAAHAAHHHHH--BAAHAHHHH--GLOBAL WARMIKNG IS REAL--PALIN IS TRAILER TRASH---BAAAAAHH----BAAAHHHH---KARL MARX IS MY DAAAAAAAAADDDD. I DRINK KOOL AAHAAHAAIIIDDDD. I HAVE NOT MY OWN MIIIIHIHIHND. I AM THE SHEEEEEEEEEEEEPLE---I AM OWNED.
I’m really tired of having to waste my time arguing bullshit with you. Read that book description and if you believe that there is even a remote possibility that the publication of this book is dependent on an actual obama presidency, then see an education specialist. I only have so much time in a day.
"I think that Gwen Ifill is a professional, and I think she will do a totally objective job, because she is a highly-respected professional," McCain said.
At base, what we have here is the Republicans, after having the debate expectations of their candidate at rock-bottom (if she doesn't piss herself on stage it's a win!) still scared that their candidate will be destroyed in the debate and are now working the refs and trying to futher lower expectations (moderator was in the tank for Obama so she had to piss herself!).
Meanwhile:
Given McCain's quote, I fully expect his campaign to release an ad questioning Ifill's integrity and professionalism.
I could give two shits if she's black. I've never heard of her and it looks like she has a book coming out in which she writes about Obama among other people and how he's changing the political landscape.
I'm curious who decides who the moderaters are? Has there ever been a moderator who was right-leaning? If there is someone on the right at the negotiating table to determine who the moderator is they might want to consider going back to negotiating 101 with freshmen at their local junior college.
Based on reading about her debate history in Alaska I think she'll do quite well tomorrow night. Obviously she will be under a microscope to perform but if you want to be in the limelight you have to produce. My guess is she will.
cawacko, unless I missed it, I never heard your explanation for why Gwen Ifill would act as a partisan debate moderator, or why you think she's a lefty.
I have no idea what politics Gwen Ifill has. She's very professional, and I've never noticed any bias at all. Maybe she's a Democrat, I have no idea. But, you wouldn't know it from the way she conducts her journalistic profession.
You know what cawacko? I don't think it matters what party a real journalist belongs too, as long as the act like professional keepers of the fourth estate.
Andrea Mitchell is supposedly a hard core republican, but I find in general that she asks relatively fair questions, and practices standard journalist ethics with regard to sourcing facts.
I'm wondering if what you want, is more of a pundit to moderate debates, rather than journalists.
I gotta admit, it would be hilarious if Sean Hannity and Arianna Huffington were allowed to co-moderate a debate. But, that would be a freaking circus.

Cool.In THE BREAKTHROUGH, veteran journalist Gwen Ifill surveys the American political landscape, shedding new light on the impact of Barack Obama’s stunning presidential campaign and introducing the emerging young African American politicians forging a bold new path to political power.
Ifill argues that the Black political structure formed during the Civil Rights movement is giving way to a generation of men and women who are the direct beneficiaries of the struggles of the 1960s. She offers incisive, detailed profiles of such prominent leaders as Newark Mayor Cory Booker, Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick, and U.S. Congressman Artur Davis of Alabama, and also covers up-and-coming figures from across the nation. Drawing on interviews with power brokers like Senator Obama, former Secretary of State Colin Powell, Vernon Jordan, the Reverend Jesse Jackson, and many others, as well as her own razor-sharp observations and analysis of such issues as generational conflict and the "black enough" conundrum, Ifill shows why this is a pivotal moment in American history.
THE BREAKTHROUGH is a remarkable look at contemporary politics and an essential foundation for understanding the future of American democracy.
She is pretty much a moderate, if slightly left leaning she keeps it out of her work for the most part. It is due to the fact that she has a book, that is scheduled out on Jan 20th, that would benefit if Obama was the one sworn in that day.... THAT is the problem. It is a conflict of interest. She should recuse herself.
I'm pretty sure she will, Wacks. If Andrea Mitchell is a Republican then I'll give up drinking for a month.
I don't want a hack as a moderator. I would never want Sean Hannity to moderate a debate even one that contained all Republicans.
Ultimately I'm projecting until the debate occurs. But for someone that lives in D.C., has worked for the N.Y. Times and Washington Post and works for PBS and has a book coming out with Obama a big part of it my potential bias detector comes out. I hope she does a good job.

Journalists write books all the time. Bob Woodward wrote books about Bush, and I didn't hear the rightwing complain.
I think rightwingers are working the refs. Its what they do. Sometimes the left does it too, but the right has made it an artform.
She may perform very well and I imagine she will provided she hasn't lost much of the confidence that got her where she is today. That doesn't mean the expectations game isn't getting played big time.
You know that Andrea Mitchell is married to Alan Greenspan, right?
Yes, which is what I don't understand. However love is not partisan I guess. And for me giving up a month of drinking might as well be a lifetime so its not something I would offer jokingly.
Well he is as ugly as a bulldog’s ass, so if they are not intellectually simpatico, what the hell is that relationship based on? I don’t know, I think she probably leans republican. But, I am not at all sure, and that is a testament to her professionalism. I will give her that.
Gwen is truely fair and balanced in her approach.
If you idiots would watch real news instead of punditmania you might actually know something.
Sheesh...
