Disagreed on DC, but I do agree that the actual DC area can be shrunk and the rest of the land, specifically the residential areas, be given back to Maryland. This gives the residents state representation in Congress without giving DC itself the power of statehood.

lawless riots do not threaten the Constitution or the Republic. They can and should be prosecuted and were, as crime.
What happened on Jan6 was insurrection and secession. Those threaten the COnstitution and the Nation and one side overwhelming were supporting. One side had top government officials involved in it, organizing and structuring it.
