Is the time of Liberty at hand?

The most basic libertarian principles are those of individual liberty and individual responsibility.

I think most of us understand the need for a safety net, but only as an absolute last resort.
Additiionally, it should not be a permanent solution, rather a temporary one.

Social conservatism is the polar opposite of freedom and therefore, Libertarianism can exist ONLY without social conservatism.

Traditional right wing republicans are no more fans of liberty than are traditional left wing dems. Both believe in impinging on individual liberties in the name of their pet orthodoxies. Poverty, queerness, fatty foods, smoking, religion, political correctness. Americans in the center are getting fed up. Libertarianism is the ONLY alternative.

You can't have fiscal conservatism without social conservatism.

Sorry, but economic freedom cannot be separated from personal freedom; the two go hand-in-hand.

Liberty will be restored only when conservatives such as yourself abandon your desire to impose one group's interpretation of morality onto society as a whole.

As much as republicans scream about smaller gov't and less interference in private lives, so many want more gov't interference and more regulation. The difference between the parties is simply who is labeled the scapegoat.

Interesting quote from Clint Eastwood:

"When he was asked: “How would you characterize yourself politically?” Eastwood answered, “Libertarian – Everyone leaves everyone else alone.” – LibertarianRock.com"

And one more....

"Eastwood has made no secret of his pro-liberty views. He first hinted at his politics in Parade magazine (January 12, 1997) when he wrote about government: "Abuse of power isn't limited to bad guys in other nations. It happens in our own country if we're not vigilant. Those in power get jaded, deluded, and seduced by power itself." He explicitly went on the record as a libertarian in a March 1997 Playboyinterview, when he was asked: "How would you characterize yourself politically?" Eastwood replied: "Libertarian... Everyone leaves everyone else alone."

He reiterated that with his 2004 USA Today quote, and then elaborated when asked about same-sex marriages. Eastwood replied: "From a libertarian point of view, you would say, 'Yeah? So what?' You have to believe in total equality. People should be able to be what they want to be and do what they want -- as long as they're not harming people.""

Is there a specific socially conservative policy that restricts your freedom? What is it?

Can you clarify what is meant by some of these?

* Limited government and balanced budgets
Does limited gov't mean less interference in private lives and privately owned businesses?

* Classroom prayer
Who decides what prayer and who is prayed to?

* Abstinence education
Solely Abstinence Ed, or in addition to our current Sex Ed?

* Traditional marriage, not same-sex marriage
Here is one that restricts personal freedoms, but we don't need to go there again.

* Respect for differences between men and women, boys and girls
Exactly what does this mean? What would change from our current policies?

* Laws against pornography
Here is another that restricts personal freedoms and capitalistic endeavors.

* The Second Amendment right to keep and bear arms

* Economic allocative efficiency (as opposed to popular equity)

* The death penalty
As it is currently used or with more stringent requirements?

* Parental control of education
At what level? Individual schools? Communities? State? Federal?

* Respect for our military ... past and present
What would change from our current policies?

* Rejection of junk science such as evolution and global warming
Evolution is "junk science"?

* Low taxes, especially for families

* Confederationism (less power for the federal government and more for local and state governments)
What would you have shift to local control? And why not less gov't altogether?

Let me help by starting the answers on this one.

Classroom prayer
Traditional marriage, not same-sex marriage
Respect for differences between men and women, boys and girls (depending on what is meant here)
Laws against pornography
Parental control of education

Stop jizzing over yourself and pick one.

YOu listed things you claim to be examples of social conservatism. I have questions about numerous ones.

If you cannot answer I understand. But this "pick one" is nonsense.

Ok, I removed all my smartass single questions. Answer as many as you are capable of answering.

You posted a list, I have questions about many of the items on your list. It is called a discussion of issues.
