He has done a great job. Unfortunately I don’t think that was just one bad night. Here is my concern. Perception becomes reality. I still believe Biden will win, although I’m less confident than I was. But his campaign is laser focused on three states. What happens when those low propensity voters in states that are not up for grabs just stay home. Disastrous. It’s not good enough to win the Presidency. As long as Republicans are in charge of ANYTHING Trumps influence will continue to be felt. See: Mike Johnson. Trump claims the election was stolen he has his sycophants in the courts and in Congress and his allies continue to control state and local government. That’s a nightmare scenario. I think he needs to step down.

This is exactly my concern. I had mainly chalked up his previous issues to his stutter and the usual pressures of the Presidency. The debate rocked me. And the post debate spin, IMHO, made it a hundred times worse. Presidents don't get off nights, they don't get to dictate that a crisis can only happen between 9 A.M. and 5 P.M. I just don't think he can be effective for another four years. Reasonable people can disagree on this, but when this many of his voters have those concerns, it is going to impact turnout. I only pushed back on the Parkinsons thing because I think it's important to have the facts and only the facts when evaluating this situation.

No one reads a debate transcript (and it would not be the good for Biden anyway). They watch. Nixon found that out the hard way, and every single person who has participated in a televised debate since then knows that how you appear is crucial. The debate was an opportunity to destroy Trump. That opportunity is gone, and it is gone because the candidate did not meet the moment. I believe age and cognitive ability played a part in why he didn't. Biden should have listened and responded to Trump instead of reciting a list of his accomplishments. And someone needs to tell him to stop saying 'Number one'. It looks like he's reading off a list. I know this upsets you, but my concerns, as a person who voted for Biden in the primary, are not just me trying to be cool. They are legitimate, and I guarantee you that many others in Congress are concerned but need to tow the line. I don't blame them. But this is a crisis, and it has not gone away. Don't blame me, and don't blame the press. This discussion is happening because Biden blew it in the debate.
