Legalize Marijuana to pay for the "Public Option".

Folks have been trying to grow tobacco in other parts of the country for 400 years now. They don't have the combination of weather and soil needed.

Weed can be grown anywhere though, even in closets like I mentioned earlier.

If weed is legalized there will be a billion sites out there showing you how as well.
You don't need perfect weather. Jeebus. It's as if you don't understand how things can be grown so you think nobody can.

Read the fricking sites. Other parts of the nation can grow tobacco. Even you could, if you wanted. You can even legally sell a certain amount without taxation.

And lastly, the best stuff (MJ) comes from "professional" producers (in Canada is where the best stuff in the West gets produced).

There are a lot of products that people can grow/get on their own, but yet they rely upon others to provide said products. yes, some people would grow it on their own. But there would still be a vast market for those who do not wish to do so.
I don't deny that there will be a market, just on its size. Dopers are lazy, which means that they are poor, which means that they will be looking for ways to save money to support their addiction. When they figure out that they can grow the shit and sell the surplus for extra cash for little risk and little work, they will.

If anyone can grow it with any quality they would have, saving the cost of importation from the southern colonies during the 17th and 18th centuries.

Southernman hasn't hear of this wierd thing called mass production.

Not suprising a narrow minded boob who's against blowjobs would be against other cool stuff too.

I'm embarrassed for you.

Again, educate yourself. Just read the sites that I provided.

Other than that, read again, the quality goes up with weed with more "professional" producers...

Again, tobacco is a very good example of what weed would be like.

1) you say they are lazy, then turn around and suggest they will take the time to grow it themselves? It is not as easy as you think to grow good weed. Most will still buy it.

2) Suggesting that most MJ users are poor is simply absurd. yes, some are, but there are far more that are not.

Anyway, in order to grow tobacco in CO, you do have to start the growth indoors and then transplant them outside. It wouldn't be a cash crop (the transplant process makes it so that it would be more expensive to produce here), it would be for your own use and many people do it. (I have a friend who grows tobacco in his garden right next to the tomatoes.) It costs about $.40 per 20 cigarettes (a pack) while after tax and production it costs $5.40 per pack here.

And basements and attics. A couple in NY got caught a few years back with a farm in their attic. The cops got tipped off by an satellite infrared photo.

If it was legal to grow, lots of guys with gardens would be selling it to local dopers in a cash only business. The higher the tax rate on it, the more profit for local growers and the less tax revenue for Johnny Law.

Must have been a regular tipster also. Kyllo v. U.S. says it's illegal to use thermal imaging without a warrant.

It is very easy to brew your own beer, however it is very difficult to sell over the amount allowed pre-tax without paying the taxes you must pay in order to keep selling. It takes far less electricity and effort to brew beer than to grow MJ, it is perfectly legal, yet people are far more willing to pay the tax than brew their own.... There are some that brew their own (I was one), and the product is actually better than what you get at the store and STILL people go to liquor stores.

The guys with the basement weed will likely become the suppliers to the manufacturers who will sell the Marlboro Red Haired at the local convenience store.

It takes no equipment and no electricity to grow weed in your back yard. Processing consists of cutting the plant and hanging it upside down inside to dry it, pulling the leaves off and putting it into bags. Several hundred dollars worth can fit into a shoe box, and the raw materials involved are some seeds, zip lock bags, and an old shoe box. The profit margin is huge and the product has a very long shelf life.

Contrast this with brewing beer. The materials and are expensive, the processing equipment is bulky, you need to collect bottles, wash them, store them, fill them and cap them. The profit margin is thin and the product is bulky with a relatively short shelf life.

There's really no comparison.

Currently though, it takes a bit more effort, and the product (unless you are one of the more 'professional' producers) is of a far less quality (unlike beer). Yet people far more often than they grow their own pay the inflated price of dealers for the product. Those same people will continue to pay others for producing it, first for the quality, secondly because that is what they are used to and is exactly the effort they want to put into it. Even if they tax it so it costs the same as it does because it is illicit they will still buy it.

I don't know why this is important to you, but the reality is most people do not want to go to the trouble to produce anything of their own even when they can and it is easy, they'll buy it. The VAST majority of people don't have a vegetable garden, even though they are extremely easy and save them money.

Again, tobacco is an excellent example of how more people start growing their own due to over taxing, but not enough to make a difference in the revenue. The same would happen for weed.

Again, its a matter of degree. The argument here is that some think that this is a huge money maker for the government. I don't think it is, which is why I don't think it will be legalized.

Again, we are not talking about current conditions, but the proposed condition if weed is legalized. Folks have to go to extremes to grow it to avoid detection and the penalties are huge. If it was legal folks would grow it in their gardens next to the tomatoes, which of course should be started inside few weeks before the last frost then hardened, then transplanted.

Again, those same people don't even grow a garden to save themselves money, they'll not be cultivating when it is easily obtainable at a store. Period.

Some people would grow it next to the tomatoes, but those would be the people who make that effort to begin with (that of growing tomatoes), and who would be willing to suffer the lower quality of their product, and they would not make the difference in revenue, any more than the people who brew their own beer do for alcohol even though it is easily produced and actually of a better quality than what you can purchase.

like most simpletons Southerntard doesn't read much. Many economist predict a billion annually in Cali. 1 guy is paying nearly a million just from a shop in Oakland.
