My electric bill

Heh. I know quite a bit of men that feel the same about women!

No, Biden cannot make all men gay. There are real men out there, just as there are real women out there. There are still men willing to go out there and build and support families and do whatever it takes to defend them.
There are also still women out there that still build and care for families, and do whatever it takes to defend them.

But...your have a point.

Too many men have no interest in reproduction at all. I could say the same about a lot of women.
The cause is basically from Democrats...pushing anything and everything to feminize men, masculinize women, and destroying families.

I fully agree with you.

That's stupid.

If you set your AC at 75 it takes the same amount of energy if it's 80 degrees or 120 outside.

As long as the temp is over what the temp you have it set at the temp doesn't matter.

It runs constantly.

In energy use per hour that is true. If it is running constantly (as is usual in AZ in the summer!), it makes no difference what the temperature is outside.

I am against term limits, I have argued this here before.

I am against term limits also, but for the very opposite reason.

I like consistent, long term power in government if it's on my side.
I think FDR was clearly the greatest president in our nation's history,
and he was elected to four terms back before they screwed that up with an amendment.

I believe in professional, career public servants.
I like public servants who know what the fuck they're doing when a constituent needs a personal favor.
That's how they earn their support to stay in office--serving their constituents.

My first national election was in 1968 [it would have been 1964 if there were an 18-year-old vote back then].

I have yet to vote for my first Republican ever in a partisan election!
I don't want periodically shaken up government.
I want MY points of view represented.

I am impressed, Tink.

You get your utility bill directly from POTUS!

And here I was, thinking he had nothing to do with it.

My home climate control doesn't go on in any zone unless it's over 78° or under 67º.
When it's not running on its own, it's OK to open windows in that zone.

That keeps my utility bill somewhat under control.
Try it.

Weather in Phoenix today: Currently it is 99 degF, with an expected high of 113 degF, and an expected low of 89 degF with scattered thunderstorms.

So, as far as Tinkerpeach running the air conditioner with her stated settings, there is NO DIFFERENCE. It will not shut off. It wouldn't shut off with YOUR stated settings either.

Nice cut'n'paste, Sybil. Can you translate this section of your post without straining yourself Googling? Just the BOLDED parts will be fine:

I see, Milquetoast.
You're capable of accidentally making sense from time to time.
Work on it a little bit.

When I lived in Tucson as a kid, we had a swamp cooler which seemed sufficient to keep the house comfortable on those 90 degree plus days.

Now that Republicans are intent on making global warming worse, I don't know how effective a swamp cooler would be in relentless heat exceeding 110 degrees daily.

There is no such thing as 'global warming' except as fundamentalist style religion (one that routinely ignores the 1st and 2nd laws of thermodynamics and the Stefan-Boltzmann law; and one that routinely discards statistical and probability mathematics.

NO gas or vapor has the capability to warm the Earth.
You cannot create energy out of nothing.
You cannot destroy energy into nothing.
You cannot trap heat.
You cannot trap light.
You cannot trap thermal energy. There is always heat.
It is not possible to measure the temperature of the Earth.

110 degF is fairly normal in Tuscon during the summer. If you can't stand the heat, get out of the 'kitchen' (State).

I always wonder if people who left San Jose, Orange County, and San Diego to move to Phoenix come to regret it.

Gene Simmons of Kiss famously complained about California taxes, and moved to Las Vegas. He only lasted two months into the Las Vegas summer before moving back to southern California, grumbling about the relentless heat

Heh. It can get pretty hot in Las Vegas in summer! It can get pretty cold in the winter too!

The best times to visit Las Vegas are during the equinoxes.

Here in New England, Mount Washington in the winter occasionally matches Mars in temperature.
If you take the cog train to the top in mid-July, it's about 60ºF.

Considering that the highest temperature recorded on Mars is 70 deg F, Mt Washington is ALREADY BELOW temperatures on Mars, even in summer!

Agreed, but I also think there are mental issues to consider for people who live fantasy lives online.

There are JPP members who are just being themselves and there are members who are playing a role. The Normal people, which I consider you and TOW, among others, to be members, are themselves. The Abbie Normals, not so much. LOL

FWIW, my kWh usage in July is 1,267. Last year it was 811. A 50% increase in usage is easily understood to produce a likewise rise in billing...as most Normal people would understand. :)

Price is higher per kWh, Sock.

Mount Washington has the consistently shittiest weather in the Continental US. Their website is awesome with pictures of the station coated in four feet of ice: https://www.mountwashington.org/

When flying in winter, the non-flying pilot would call up the destination weather. At night on the "Hotel leg", the last flight of the day, it was fun to call up MWN's weather and pass it to the flying pilot. Usually they'd over look the 3-letter identifier and just read the METAR strip which, for MWN was always shitty with zero vis and gale force winds. LOL

This is summer at MWN: https://aviationweather.gov/adds/me...on&hoursStr=most+recent+only&submitmet=Submit
METAR text: KMWN 291350Z 28020KT 0SM FG VV000 12/12 RMK
Conditions at: KMWN (MOUNT WASHINGTON, NH, US) observed 1350 UTC 29 July 2023
Temperature: 12.0°C (54°F)
Dewpoint: 12.0°C (54°F) [RH = 100%]
Pressure (altimeter): missing
Winds: from the W (280 degrees) at 23 MPH (20 knots; 10.3 m/s)
Visibility: 0.00 miles (0.00 km)
Ceiling: indefinite ceiling with vertical visibility of 0 feet AGL
Clouds: obscured sky
Weather: FG (fog)

Translated, it's zero visibility both vertically and horizontally, temperature is 54F and the winds are from the west at 20kts. A normal summer day at MWN. LOL.

The 'non-flying pilot'?? Obviously, you don't fly. No one 'calls up the destination weather'. There is no need. It was already known BEFORE THE FLIGHT EVER LEAVES. That is REQUIRED under FAA regulations, Sock.

If it's nearby, though, people want to go to the very top at least once.
It's a relatively safe way to experience thin air as a family.

Don't try it in winter,
and for the love of God,
don't hike it on foot when you don't have to.

6300 ft is NOT 'thin air'! Aircraft flying at that altitude don't even need to pressurize the cabin. People around here (the PNW) call that a 'hill'. You guys don't have real mountains like we do! People around here often JOG up a hill like that!
