[h=1]Boy, 4, dies after teen sister held him in tub of hot water[/h]

When a 4-year-old Clayton County boy urinated on himself, his teen sister allegedly struck him multiple times with a leather belt, then held him in a tub of hot water as punishment.

Jamal Dunlap

And though their aunt, Aleisha Harris, knew the boy was injured, she chose not to get medical help for him until about 24 hours later, which Clayton County police said Wednesday contributed to Jamal Dunlap’s death.

Now the teenager and the aunt have been arrested on murder and first-degree child cruelty charges.

The children’s aunt, Aleisha Harris, is also facing charges after police say she waited 24 hours to get medical care for 4-year-old Jamal Dunlap (CREDIT: Channel 2 Action News).

About 3:30 p.m. Friday, police went to a home in the 400 block of Flint Trail in reference to a child who had difficulty breathing, Clayton police Maj. Joe Woodall said.

That child, later identified as Jamal, was immediately taken to Southern Regional Medical Center, where officials told police he had second- and third-degree burns over more than 40 percent of his body.

Police said his burn injuries likely came from being submerged in the tub of hot water. Jamal died 27 minutes after police responded to his home.

Harris’ brother told Channel 2 Action News his sister is only to blame for trying to “help a family in need.” He said Harris was taking care of the children because their parents left them with the family and never returned to get them. “The sister said he needed to be in the bath because he peed on himself,” Harris’ brother told Channel 2.

Harris’ brother told Channel 2 she didn’t take the child to the hospital for a reason. “We don’t know if they have insurance or not, so my sister was just taking care of him,” he said.

Arrest warrants were secured for Jamal’s sister and aunt on Feb. 23, Woodall said. They were being held without bond Wednesday in the Clayton County Jail.

[h=1]Homeowner Shoots, Kills Teen Burglary Suspect[/h]
trevon-johnson.jpg

MIAMI (CBSMiami) – Relatives of a 17-year-old are angry the teenager was shot and killed by a homeowner who police say was protecting her property. The sister of the teen who died identified him as Trevon Johnson. She said he was a student at D. A. Dorsey Technical College.

“I don’t care if she have her gun license or any of that. That is way beyond the law… way beyond,” said Johnson’s cousin Nautika Harris. “He was not supposed to die like this. He had a future ahead of him. Trevon had goals… he was a funny guy, very big on education, loved learning.”

On Thursday, police say Johnson burglarized a home south of 79th Street near I-95 — just blocks away from where he lives. The 54-year-old woman told police her surveillance system alerted her to the break-in of her home. She said she rushed home and found the teen climbing out of a window.

“She observed a subject leaving the home through the rear,” said police Det. Dan Ferrin. Miami-Dade police said there was a confrontation and shots were fired. Police said they were on scene seconds after the shooting and gave CPR to the teen. Johnson was rushed to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.

“What’s wrong with her,” asked Johnson’s sister Nisha Johnson. “She did not have to shoot him.” “It’s no reason she should have waited until I think he walked out the yard to try to shoot him,” said Harris. “If she called the police already why would she shoot him?” Relatives said they don’t believe Johnson stole anything from the home but detectives would not confirm that.

“You have to look at it from every child’s point of view that was raised in the hood,” said Harris. “You have to understand… how he gonna get his money to have clothes to go to school? You have to look at it from his point-of-view.”

Police said the homeowner is cooperating with detectives and was taken to a police station for questioning. “She’s a person that is a little distraught because this is her home that someone obviously was in,” Ferrin said.

Investigators said they’re still trying to sort all of this out and want the public to remember that, if possible, it’s best not to take these types of situations into your own hands.

“If there’s any type of situation that happens or they believe there’s a burglary at the home or any type of confrontation, dial 911. Have the police make that confrontation,” Ferrin said. “That’s what we’re here for.”

The case has been handed over to state attorney’s office but, so far, no charges have been filed against her.

[h=1]Uncle given 100 years in prison for giving gun to niece in Endia Martin killing[/h]
750x422
Donnell Flora, right, was sentenced March 21, 2016, in the shooting death of 14-year-old Endia Martin, left.

An uncle of the teen girl charged with killing 14-year-old Endia Martin was sentenced to 100 years in prison Monday for supplying the gun used in the fatal 2014 shooting.

"There is no excuse or rationalization for giving a child a gun to take to a ridiculous fight about a boy — none," said Cook County Judge Thaddeus Wilson.

Donnell Flora, the uncle who was left paralyzed from the waist down in a 2010 shooting, had been convicted in January of first-degree murder, attempted murder and aggravated battery charges.

The shooting suspect, whom the Tribune is not naming because she has been charged as a juvenile, is now 16 and has yet to stand trial in juvenile court. Even if she is convicted, though, she likely would be released form custody when she turns 21.

Prosecutors blamed the "total breakdown" in responsibility among adults in Flora's extended family for the murder as they asked for the judge to impose a lengthy sentence. Flora had faced 56 to 120 years in prison, according to prosecutors.

"Adults are supposed to serve as role models," said Assistant State's Attorney Athena Farmakis. "(Flora) brought in a young, impressionable 14-year-old niece into the cycle of violence he knew was so bad."

"The streets of Chicago cannot survive with this level of family breakdown that Donnell Flora all too well exemplifies," Farmakis said. "He did the unthinkable."

Ferris wheel sex guy murdered at strip club

HOUSTON - The Houston man who gained international attention for having sex while on a Las Vegas Ferris wheel in February was killed in a carjacking Saturday morning. Around 5 a.m. Phillip Panzica was shot and killed inside of his fiancee's vehicle after leaving an adult entertainment club, police said.

The two suspects Bryant Christopher Watts, 28, and Aaron Jones, 31, were arrested hours later and have been charged with capital murder.

According to Houston Police, Panzica was in the driver's seat of his fiancee's Kia Sorrento and she was in the passenger seat at the time. The victim's fiancee told police the two suspects were sitting in the backseat when Watts told Panzica to "come clean" before shooting him multiple times.

Witnesses said they saw the suspects exit the vehicle, pull Panzica's body from the car and left him in the roadway before demanding his fiancee to get out of the vehicle.

Watts and Jones then fled the scene in the SUV and the victim's fiancee flagged down a Metro bus driver to get help.

Police say hours later, officers spotted the black Kia Sorrento speeding down a roadway and pursued the vehicle. Multiple law enforcement agencies responded and the pursuit ended in Concho County, Texas.

Brazen Detroit female shooter is caught on CCTV shooting man in his car after pulling gun from her underpants

  • Shooting occurred 4.30 a.m. at a Mobil gas station in Detroit
  • The female suspect, 20, pulled a handgun from her skirt and started firing
  • She struck the male driver, 27, multiple times, but he survived, police say
  • The scene was captured by Project Green Light, a new surveillance initiative that sends high-definition footage directly to police
  • The suspect was arrested while attempting to leave town

A dramatic gang-related shooting has been captured on camera in Detroit, showing the moment a woman pulled a gun hidden in her skirt and shot a male rival sitting in a car.
The shooting occurred about 4.30 a.m. Sunday at a Mobil gas station on the city's west side and was captured by Project Green Light, a partnership between Detroit police and local gas stations that sends high-definition surveillance footage straight to police headquarters.

The footage shows the 20-year-old female suspect - the only woman in the group that was caught on camera - gets a gun from a blue Dodge Charger and hides it in her underpants,Fox 2 News reported.
Seconds later, the woman approached the second car, a dark-colored Pontiac Grand Prix, and fired multiple times, striking the driver repeatedly. Miraculously, the driver - who can hardly been on the video - survived the attack.

The woman approached the car, a Grand Prix, and fired multiple times, striking the driver multiple times. Amazingly the man survived, and drove off after the attack. After being hit, the victim starts to drive away, hitting one of the other men from the blue Charger with the car and knocking him to the ground.

That is when another man, who is with the people in the Grand Prix, pounces on the female suspect, tacking her to the ground. After getting the gun off the woman, both cars fled the scene.

Because of Project Green Light, police were onto the shooting immediately. Also, due to the clearness of the footage, they had a clear identification of the suspect. 'Huge success, exactly what we had hoped for,' Detroit Police Sgt. Michael Woody told Fox 2. 'We're going to see you, and we're going to see you clearly.'

Man bitten by own pit bull while fleeing from officers

davisavery.jpg

As Avery Davis ran from Riviera Beach police officers Monday morning, he released his pit bull and directed the animal to attack the officers, according to authorities.
However, the dog apparently had other ideas.

Davis’ pit bull bit him in the buttocks and tried to bite his head before Davis ran and hid in a nearby apartment complex, according to a police arrest report made public Tuesday.

The 26-year-old Riviera Beach man eventually was caught in the 1500 block of West 29th Street. He was arrested on two counts of aggravated assault on a law-enforcement officer and one count resisting an officer with violence. He remained in custody Tuesday at the Palm Beach County Jail.

The scene reportedly unfolded shortly before 8 a.m. Monday. According to the report, police officers were in the area investigating a reported burglary in the 2300 block of Avenue S. Officers observed Davis, who matched the description of the suspect. He reportedly was carrying hair care products.

Officers ordered Davis to lay on the ground. He did so while hugging the dog. Davis reportedly told officers, “Y’all gonna have to kill us” before getting up and running away.
An officer fired a stun at Davis, temporarily knocking him back to the ground. Davis reportedly got up and ran again. As officers pursued, Davis released the dog from its leash and yelled, “Kill ’em boy, kill ’em,” while pointing at the officers, the report said.

Officers later found Davis hiding under an SUV in an apartment complex on Avenue R. He ran again but was caught on West 29th Street. Davis was treated at St. Mary’s Medical Center in West Palm Beach and then released into police custody.

[h=1]Flight attendant who tried to sneak 70 pounds of cocaine at LAX arrested in New York, authorities say[/h]
marsha-gay-reynolds-drugs.jpg

marsha-gay-reynolds-mar24.jpg

Less than a day after she dropped a bag loaded with cocaine at a security checkpoint and sprinted out of Los Angeles International Airport, a JetBlue flight attendant managed to board one of her company's planes and travel to New York City, a law enforcement source told the Los Angeles Times.

Marsha Gay Reynolds, 31, of Queens, N.Y., was taken into custody in New York on Wednesday and charged with possession of cocaine with intent to distribute, federal authorities said.

Reynolds fled from LAX on Friday night after she was randomly selected for a security screening, the complaint said. Despite the near arrest, Reynolds may have worked as an attendant on the Saturday flight to New York, said the source, who spoke on condition of anonymity because the source was not authorized to discuss details of the case.

Investigators had yet to identify Reynolds on Saturday, so it is unlikely she raised any alarms when passing through airport security the next day, the source said. It was not clear what airport she flew out of on Saturday.

Reynolds surrendered to Drug Enforcement Administration agents at John F. Kennedy International Airport, according to a statement by the U.S. attorney's office in Los Angeles. She will appear in federal court in Brooklyn on Thursday before she is returned to California, the statement said. “Our nation's security depends on every individual with security clearances to honor the trust placed in them,” U.S. Atty. Eileen M. Decker said in the statement. “The defendant's conduct violated that trust and, in the process, exposed the public to a major narcotics transaction and the dangers inherent to such a transaction.”

Reynolds faces a minimum of 10 years in prison if convicted. JetBlue said it was cooperating with the DEA and the FBI and declined to comment further.

Reynolds arrived at LAX's Terminal 4 around 7 p.m. Friday and provided her badge to a Transportation Security Administration officer, according to the complaint. The officer confirmed that she was a pre-screened crew member when the scanner randomly selected her for additional security screening. Airport and airline staff aren't subject to routine security checks at LAX.

Reynolds became nervous and made a phone call, talking to someone in a foreign language as she was escorted to a second checkpoint, the complaint said. As they approached the checkpoint, Reynolds began to walk farther behind the security officer. When they arrived at the screening area, Reynolds dropped her luggage, kicked off her heels and sprinted away from the area, according to the complaint. She barreled down an escalator the wrong way, exited the terminal and kept racing toward Terminal 5, the complaint said.

Security officers did not pursue Reynolds because they were concerned that the abandoned luggage might contain explosives, the complaint said. After bomb-sniffing dogs confirmed that the bags did not contain explosives, Los Angeles Airport police officers discovered 68.49 pounds of cocaine wrapped in 11 separate packages inside the abandoned luggage, the document alleged.

Marshall McClain, president of the Los Angeles Airport Peace Officers Assn., said this week that the incident highlights the need for airline staff members to be subject to the same scrutiny as other passengers traveling through LAX. “Just like traveling passengers, airport and airline employees should undergo the same screening to help decrease the opportunities for these employees to commit crimes and to help eliminate ‘insider' or ‘lone wolf' criminal activity,” he said in a statement. “It is long overdue that both of these recommendations be implemented.” McClain also said it was unlikely that Friday marked Reynolds' first attempt to exploit her security clearance. “I don't believe anybody would trust a mule with that amount of dope the first time out,” he told The Times. “You're talking about $2 million worth of cocaine.... That's pretty troubling. This is more than likely not her first time doing this.”

Boyfriend charged in deaths of Milwaukee mother, her 4-year-old daughter

Patrick D. Fowler, 31, of Milwaukee has been charged with two counts of first-degree intentional homicide on allegations he stabbed his girlfriend and her 4-year-old daughter to death, and then used the girl's coloring books as fuel to set their bodies on fire, according to a criminal complaint.

Fowler told police he repeatedly stabbed Jessica Marie Ellenberger, 28, because she "disrespected" him during an argument. Her daughter, Madyson Marie Marshel, was screaming "Mommy," so Fowler stabbed her, too, according to the criminal complaint. Fowler, who is not Madyson's father, told police he "did not feel bad for any of the decisions he has made."

Ellenberger was stabbed 26 times and her throat was slashed, the complaint says.

The mother and daughter were found dead after the fire, set Saturday at their home in the 100 block of N. 68th St. in Milwaukee. Fowler was arrested in Arkansas this week.

[h=1]Two Milwaukee women charged, accused of punching Burger King employee[/h]

two.jpg

GLENDALE — Two women have been charged in connection with an incident that occurred at a Burger King restaurant near North Port Washington Road and Henry Clay Street in Glendale.

The accused are 41-year-old Latonia Howell and 23-year-old Jasmeika Simon. Each faces a felony charge of physical abuse of a child (intentional causation of bodily harm).

According to the criminal complaint, Howell went into the Burger King restaurant on Saturday, February 27th and “wanted to use multiple coupons.” But the worker told Howell it was company policy that only one coupon be used per transaction.

The complaint indicates “Howell became upset and asked to speak to the manager.” The worker tried to rectify the situation — and as Howell left the restaurant, she told the worker “she was going to have her daughter come back to ‘beat their (expletive).'”

About 15 to 20 minutes later, Howell and Simon returned to the restaurant. The complaint says a worker asked if they had been helped. That’s when “Simon replied, ‘Oh, you’re the one’ and ‘Don’t ever disrespect my mom.” The complaint indicates Simon began punching the worker. As she was leaving, “she threatened to ‘go get her gun’ and come back to Burger King.”

When police interviewed Howell, she “felt the female cashier was being rude to her.” She “admitted telling the cashier that she would have her daughter whoop or kick her (expletive).” Howell also added that “she calls her daughter ‘my little monster’ because she’s ‘no joke’ in regards to being able to fight.”

Simon told police she “believed her mother was treated unfairly by an employee and she went to intimidate the employee.”

If convicted, each of the women faces up to six years in prison and $10,000 in fines.
