Apparently Razor is willing to accept any risk.that may be involved. I can't stop him, anyhow.

So, as an almost obligitory question, if Razor simply grabbed a random sample of sexual assault/murder you'd be significantly less opposed to it?

Risk?

Yes, of course, I would be less opposed. Still opposed, for other reasons, but less so. Crime is down, despite our economic problems, and it is not primarily a federal issue nor should it be.

[h=1]Illegal immigrant charged with intoxication manslaughter in Harris County deputy’s death[/h]
HOUSTON -- The man accused of hitting and killing a Harris County sheriff’s deputy while driving drunk was in the country illegally, a judge said in court overnight.

Andres Munos-Munos, 23, was charged with intoxication manslaughter in the death of Sgt. Dwayne Polk.

According to the Houston Police Department, Munos-Munos allegedly ran a red light on Little York at N. Shepherd and hit Polk's personal truck shortly after 3 a.m. Sunday. HPD said there were no skid marks to indicate Munos-Munos even attempted to stop prior to the crash.

The deputy died at the scene. He was in uniform, and officials believe he was driving home following an off-duty job.

During his court appearance early Monday, Munos-Munos was ordered held without bond. Details weren't immediately available on his attorney.

Police said the suspect suffered minor injuries in the wreck and was taken to the hospital prior to being taken to court. It was there he underwent a mandatory blood draw.

Polk, 47, had been with the sheriff's office for 16 years. On Sunday afternoon family and friends left small mementos at the Houston intersection where the deputy was killed.

“Tough morning," Sheriff Adrian Garcia tweeted. "The HCSO suffered a terrible loss & we are all grieving. Keep HCSO members & their families in your prayers."

According to the Houston Chronicle, Polk grew up in Houston with his two brothers, three sisters and many cousins. The Bible was among the books his mother used to teach him and his siblings to read, according to a 2012 obituary for his younger brother.

The suspect accused in Polk’s death has had trouble with the law before.

Records show he was arrested on June 10, 2012 for driving while intoxicated. He also was charged with unlawful carrying of a weapon. He was deported in July 2012, but later returned to the U.S.

[h=1]Three Chicago Teens Rape 12-Year-Old, Post Video on Facebook[/h]
COOK COUNTY CRIMINAL COURTHOUSE — Three South Side teens have been charged with raping a 12-year-old girl after posting a video of the assault on Facebook.

Kenneth Brown, 15, and Scandale Fritz and Justin Applewhite, both 16, took turns assaulting the 12-year-old girl and forcing her to perform sex acts on Dec. 15, 2012, in the basement of Fritz's home in the 4500 block of South Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Drive., authorities said.

Cook County Assistant State's Attorney Bridget O'Brien said the girl initially refused the teens' advances. But when she saw a gun in Brown's pocket she followed their commands.

The girl "knew that all three defendants were gang members of the Black Disciples faction 'Tay-Town' and was fearful that [Brown] would shoot her," O'Brien said.

One of the teens made a video of the assault and posted it to Facebook, prosecutors said.

Among other things, the video shows Brown waving a gun in the air while the girl performs a sex act, O'Brien said. The teens can be heard yelling gang slogans.

The three teens are charged as adults with aggravated criminal sexual assault. It appears to be Applewhite's first arrest. But Fritz and Brown were both expected in juvenile court next week on pending robbery, aggravated battery and theft charges.

Brown's juvenile criminal record also includes an unauthorized use of a weapon conviction in 2012. He was still on probation for that crime when the alleged assault took place.

The three were arrested Thursday. Prosecutors and police could not immediately explain why it took five months to arrest the teens.

A Cook County assistant public defender representing the teens in court on Friday said Fritz plays basketball at Englewood High School, and Brown, a football player at Hubbard High School, serves as a peer mentor.

Cook County Judge James Brown set bail at $900,000 each for Fritz, of the 4500 block of South King Drive; Kenneth Brown, of the 100 block of East 123rd Street; and Applewhite, of the 200 block of West 59th Place.

[h=1]Teen accused of killing boy, 16: 'Beautiful day to get smoked'[/h]

Joel Batalla, 17, is being held without bond in the murder of Angel Cano, 16, in the 4300 block of South Paulina Street on Tuesday. Cano, of the 2200 block of West 50th Place, was shot several times, according to the Cook County medical examiner's office.

Batalla is a member of the Latin Saints and Cano was a member of the Satan Disciples, according to Cook County Assistant State's Attorney Amanda Pillsbury.

Cano had arranged to buy marijuana from Batalla and another person, and Batalla at some point learned Cano belonged to a rival gang, prosecutors said.

When Cano met Batalla about 5:20 p.m. Tuesday, Batalla led him and two other people through an alley and into a gangway near Paulina, where Batalla told them to wait. Batalla walked out of the alley, then returned about 10 minutes later, this time walking from the south after apparently having circled the block.

Batalla sent one of the group to a store to buy blunts -- small cigars used to wrap marijuana -- and someone else began to talk to Cano about the weather, telling him it was "a beautiful day to smoke."

"It's a beautiful day to get smoked," Batalla said, then pulled out a gun and shot Cano, prosecutors said. When Cano slumped over, Batalla shot Cano five more times in the head, prosecutors said.

Batalla, who lives in the 2600 block of South Hillock Avenue in the Bridgeport neighborhood, ran to a home on Paulina Street. After wrapping the gun in his shirt and the shirt of one of the witnesses, he handed the gun off.

Batalla has a pending aggravated unlawful use of a weapon case pending in Juvenile Court, prosecutors said.

[h=3]Man Fires AK-47 Into Car, Gentlemen's Club[/h]
PHILADELPHIA -Police say they're looking for the public's help to find a man seen on surveillance video firing an AK-47 into a car and a gentleman's club earlier this month in Southwest Philadelphia.
It was 1:55 a.m. on May 11 when police say two men were in a dispute with management and bouncers at the Purple Orchid, located at 3275 South 61st Street in the city's Elmwood section.

After the men were removed from the club, one of them – identified by police as 21-year-old Henry Pettigrew – returned with an AK-47 rifle and fired numerous shots into a vehicle in the parking lot.

Then, the man runs into the clip, slipping as he goes for a second door, then opens it and sprays the club with gunfire. One person was wounded in the shooting, but the injuries weren't life-threatening, police said.

The man then drove off in a light-colored sedan, which police described as possibly being a Hyundai or Mitsubishi, driven by the second man.

At the time of the incident, police said the shooting was over a disc jockey refusing to play the man's favorite song.

In a news release issued Wednesday, police described Pettigrew as being black, 5 feet 11 inches tall, weighing 180 pounds with a thin beard. His last known address was 5538 Belmar Terrace. The second man was between the ages of 20 and 25, at least 5 feet 9 inches tall, with a medium build and a goatee. He was wearing a dark-hooded jacket over a plaid button shirt, tan cargo shorts and tan boots.

Disabled father-of-seven, 61, dies after group of teenagers 'try to rob him then push him in front of traffic'

  • Sam Lee Morris died on his way to hospital after he was hit in the head and thrown in front of a passing car by a group of teens at around 10 p.m. on Saturday
  • Morris, a father-of-seven, suffered diabetes and walked with a limp
  • Neighbors say young people regularly harass the elderly in the Oak Cliff district of Dallas where the attack occurred

Police believe he made a weak attempt to fight off the culprits by swinging his grocery bag at them but got hit in the head and then pushed in front of a car. The driver of the car didn't stop, and authorities are now appealing for information on that person as well as the group of teens.

A 61-year-old disabled father-of-seven has died after a group of teenagers attempted to rob him then pushed him into oncoming traffic on a Texas intersection.

Sam Lee Morris was fighting for life when police found him laying unconscious in the road in the Oak Cliff district of Dallas on Saturday night, but he died of his injuries on the way to hospital.

The diabetes sufferer who walked with a limp was attacked by the teens nearby his home as he returned from a convenience store at around 10 p.m.

Detectives are using surveillance video from the nearby Elisha Pease Elementary school and local businesses to search for clues. Fox 4 News reported they had made at least one arrest in the case.
Morris' brother, Robert Morris, told the station he was shocked when he heard his brother had passed away, but wasn't surprised how it happened.

He said teens regularly harass the elderly in the neighborhood and while his brother probably put up a fight, he would have been overpowered because of his age and disability. 'When that happened I'm sure he was trying to get away from him but he couldn't,' Morris, who was out of town at a funeral when the attack took place, said.

Sam Morris' neighbor, Johnathan Nealy, agreed the young thugs often roamed the neighborhood. 'Every night you see teenagers like five or six yelling, music banging,' he said. 'Why you not at home?

Don't you got school tomorrow? I know school is out but summer jobs? Something to occupy your time but they be in the streets.'

Robert Morris told Fox 4 that he and his only brother had been estranged for decades but a year ago the pair patched things up and the father-of-seven moved in with him from California.

He's said he was happy they were able to share one last year together. 'I have memories. That's all I got now. But other than that, best brother someone could ask for,' Morris told the station.

Sources tell FOX4 two teenagers, both 14-years-old, have been arrested in connection with the murder of Sam Morris, 61. Sources also say police are looking for two additional suspects - a 13-year-old and 14-year-old.

An Orange County mother jailed after she allegedly struck her child with a stun gun over a botched breakfast posted bond Friday.

Deputies are not identifying the gender of the child, but they said 34-year-old Melissa Neale was upset after the child did not make oatmeal correctly.

Suspect.jpg

Investigators said Neale went to her purse, grabbed her stun gun, chased the child around the kitchen and then held the child down and shocked the child on the leg.

Authorities said the attack was witnessed by a woman who Neale was staying with, who later found a note in the child's dresser in which the child expressed the feeling of not wanting to live anymore.

The witness said she was so disturbed by what she saw that she decided to contact the sheriff's office.

The witness also said she saw Neale drag the kid around by the hair, use kitchen spoons to hit the child and punched the child in the back of the head.

Neale works at Orlando Health and Rehabilitation Center, which is where deputies arrested her.

The Department of Children and Families said the child is currently in the care of other family members.

Neale's bond was set at $2,500.

Neale claimed the stun gun wasn't on.

Two city correction officers were charged today with dealing pot to inmates on Rikers Island.

Austin Romain and Khalif Phillips, both 31, were busted while on the job after getting ratted out by jailhouse snitches who were their alleged customers.

Both guards operated independently of each other but used similar methods to sell marijuana and other contraband — including scalpels and tobacco — to prisoners inside maximum-security facilities at the jail complex, according to the Manhattan U.S. Attorney’s Office.

Both men arranged to get paid by the jailbirds’ wives and girlfriends — usually via Western Union money transfers — then smuggled the drugs onto Rikers and hid them inside garbage pails, light fixtures and lockers, court papers said.

The inmates would then retrieve the drugs from the drop spots, court papers said.

Romain was accused of selling marijuana he purchased on his own for between $300 and $800 an ounce — depending on its quality — while Phillips was accused of charging $1,000 to pass along a package of pot provided to him.

Their arrests capped a two-year probe into by the federal Drug Enforcement Agency and the city Department of Investigation, with DOI Commissioner Rose Gill Hearn noting that they bring the number of Department of Corrections employees busted on contraband charges in the past decade to 30.

Romain and Phillips were being held overnight pending court appearances today. If convicted, each faces up to 10 years in the slammer.

[h=1]Caught On Camera: Police Say Teen Beaten For Shoes, And Web Notoriety[/h]

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) — Local recreation centers are supposed to be safe places for kids and teens, but what happened outside the rec center in Brookline is now the subject of a police investigation.

The popular facility is a haven for teenage boys, who come to play hoops and football outside, and a lot more inside – a million dollar community investment paying off, until this.

Police say the incident happened in broad daylight along Brookline Boulevard. A 15-year-old boy was at the center to play some hoops.

That’s when a group of African-American teenage boys approached the white victim and began beating him, allegedly to steal his basketball shoes, and for website notoriety.

On the video the group of boys can be heard screaming the name of the website “World Star” (for WorldStarHipHop.com) as they round the corner. That’s when police say they attacked. Another teen captured the attack on his cell phone.

World Star is an urban outlet website that hosts music videos, artist information, and also posts viral videos.

It’s described as a “shock site.”

David-Edwards-125x188.jpg

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. (WTVD) -- The Cumberland County Sheriff's office has arrested a former Fayetteville middle school principal.

David Ellis Edwards, 49, of Tobago Place is charged with two counts of second-degree forcible sex offense, two counts of sexual acts with a student, and five counts of taking indecent liberties with a minor. Judge Tal Baggett added Edwards is also facing crimes against nature charges.

Detectives say there are at least three alleged victims. The sex acts allegedly took place at Ramsey Street Alternative and Douglas Byrd Middle Schools.

Deputies said the victims told them that, between 2009 to 2011, they were touched inappropriately or were forced to participate in sexual acts with Edwards on two school campuses- Douglas Byrd Middle and Ramsey Street Alternative.

The victims, all males, were between the ages of 11 and 14 years old. On at least one occasion, the crimes were committed while a parent unknowingly sat in a waiting area in the office of the school.

According to sources, Edwards pastors First Missionary Baptist Church in St. Pauls.

Edwards was arrested this Friday after turning himself in to detectives. He resigned from his position as principal six weeks ago, telling Cumberland County Schools it was for educational opportunities. At the time, the system said they were not aware of the pending investigation.

Bond was set at $140,000. As long as Edwards faces the charge, a judge has ordered him to stay away from anyone under the age of 16.

Edwards made a first appearance in a Cumberland County Courtroom Friday afternoon. He declined to comment to ABC1. Edwards' attorney Jim Parrish told ABC11 his client is not guilty.
