Saying hi!

No it's in their Constitution. Yes. Venezuela's National Assembly granteed that power to Chavez. Leader for life? Oh you mean like everyone from George Washington to FDR right? The originial Constitution in the States had no such thing as term limits for president. That wasn't until FDR's fourth term. Gee I guess he was 'president for life' too huh? And yes that's the whole point of the removal of term limits. That he or anyone else after him could run as many times as he wants and the people can either choose him or not. Happened here four times for FDR.

I must have missed that. Rule by decree is a bill, isn't it?

Question: Has there been a democratic leader who has ever been granted that power, unless in times of REAL emergency?

I was surprised his leader for life bid was squashed. From what i understand, he can only run for re-election as many times as he wants, it doesn't mean he will win.

It's called "the internet." I can claim to live in France for all you know. I don't but I could easily claim it if I wanted to and how would you know any difference? Would my "life experience" mean anything to you? Probably not.

What? Her actual life experience means nothing to you concerning her opinion?

Well it's kinda hard to when your president is kidnapped and an illegal coup is taken place. Watch "The Revolution Will Not Be Televised." I'm not expecting you to though.

So that can mean yes, those powers were granted in times of legitimate emergency? Not like now though.

Well. If you give me permission I can tell people where your IP is from.

Of course, I could fake that too. Anybody with good knowledge could.

Now you're just being silly.

I know it's not in their constitution and I know what it means. I was referring to the media hype and spin with respect to the subject. The same thing applies here, in Canada. People can be elected and hold office as many times as people vote for them.

Somebody earlier told me that past experience with Marx's form of Socialism could not be held against the future attempts at the same.

Why would I want that advertised on here either way? And again you just proved my point.
I've knows Said1 for some years now. She really is a Canadian citizen. I'm betting that she'd even meet me in Toronto if I were to go to the Hockey Hall of Fame. She's one of the people that you will find to be "good people" even when she disagrees.

I know it doesn't seem that way yet. But it is one of the things that will addict you...

Why would I lie about being Canadian? I mean really, come on! :D

I'm from Ottawa, Ontario - for those who disbelieve.

BTW - I thought I was quoting Said. Sorry about that. I guarantee you. I will never reveal any personal information about you that wasn't posted on the site by yourself. Never. Your privacy is very, very, very important to me.

Because you are proud that you convinced the most powerful nation in the world that they have a big enough phallus to protect us both?

Right. I have no idea why the media spinned the whole thing with removing the term limits. I think term limits is very undemocratic personally. We still have that with Congress and the Senate. I don't get why they get to be re-elected countless times and not other people. For example in Virginia their governorship only allows one term. I wonder why that is. As long as the elections are fair and all that than in my opinion there shouldn't be any problems.

I''m sure there's been one, BUT most get their mistakes thrown in their face and lose confidence half way through their second term. Sound familiar?

Well I don't care if someone disagrees with me or ask question's or challenges or whatever. I'm just sick and tired of it getting personal. All I want is to talk politics with people.

Heh heh. I went there a good number of years ago. Alberta actually. I forgot the town though. *shrug* I just remember it being wet the first day.
