It is entirely reasonable and plausible to consider them both moral and ethical philosophers.

The Socrates of Plato's Republic believed in an immortal soul, a transcendent reality, an ultimate truth, and a reward and punishment in the afterlife for the righteous and the wicked, respectively.

Any distinction between that viewpoint and religion is a distinction without a difference.

In western civilization, there was basically no distinction between theology and philosophy until about 300 years ago.

Anyone who is thinking in a deep and profound way about morality, the meaning of life, and how to live an authentic life is doing philosophy, as far as I am concerned.

If you are basing that logic on the fact Socrates never wrote anything, then I do not know Jesus was religious either. We do not have a single word written by Jesus.

What we know about Jesus comes from the Gospels, and what we know about Socrates comes from Plato's dialogues.

Both sources of literature indicate both men were concerned about the fate of the immortal soul and they were both keenly interested in morality, ethics, and the meaning of life.

In short, it is entirely reasonable to consider both men moral philosophers who were spiritual and religious by our modern understanding of the terms.
