The History of the Democrat Party

both parties have retained their names, but have drastically changed their identities since their inception. The republican party was an anti-slavery, free land, free labor free men, very much in favor of modernization and expansion... very much a northern party whereas the Democrats started as strict constitutional constructionists, anti-federalists, pro-farmers... and that quickly morphed into a southern pro-slavery party especially after the demise of the whigs.

Today, the republican party is strongest in the south and the democrats are strongest in the north and northeast. Today, the republican party is the party of business and the democratic party is the party of labor. Today, the republican party is nothing like the party of Lincoln, and today, the democratic party is nothing like the party of Stephen Douglas. In fact, Hubert Humphrey had a lot more in common with Lincoln, and Trent Lott had a lot more in common with Stephen Douglas....



The names have not changed, but everything behind the names has radically changed.

I don't think the Democrat Party has designs on the world, just the Constitution, and therefore the America that we used to know.

Debate and discussion is one thing. To try and spin everything is another completely. When you only see the bad things done by one party and only acknowledge the good done by another its called being a hack.

The Patriot Act is applicable to the 10th enumerated power. What section of the Constitution is applicable to ObamaCare?
