I do not get pissed off. I fear for the country if he ever got power again, but he won't. He has a 5th-grade vocabulary and does not speak in full sentences. He backtracks and meanders. He shows a lack of focus. he is quite stupid and has no knowledge base about how the country works or was built.

Taking the fifth cannot be used as evidence in a criminal case, but can be used as evidence in other situations, such as a civil case, an employment decision, or an election.

There are several problems with "I do not recall." First it looks darn shady if you overuse it. No judge will instruct a jury that shadiness cannot be used against you, unlike the Fifth. If you later decide that it helps you to testify to something, and you suddenly "recall", then you look like you are lying. People usually do not recall more with time. Also "I do not recall" concedes that the questioner has the right to know, and so many times a judge will grant search warrants for the information. If you say you do not recall how much the check was for, very quickly a lawyer can get access to your entire checking account.

And most important, while hard, a prosecutor could prove that you are lying when you say you do not recall. It can very quickly become either perjury or contempt of court.
