Unions' Creepy Push Against Secret Ballot

yes that's right, because if someone's pressuring you to join a union, or, to not join a union, you should be allowed to shoot them.

what a great solution.

Nah, not shoot them. Maybe politely ask them to leave your house. You could even have the safety on while you were asking them.

this thread has nothing to do with rape or burglary, and he specifically referenced what it does have to do with "intimidation like this". this being what is described in this thread.

and only a lunatic would start talking gun shit under the circumstances.

And if someone is in my house trying to intimidate me, owning a firearm makes for a great reply.

You want to talk like we are lunatics, but trying to intimidate me in my own home is not something I think should be tolerated.

Keep in mind that union-friendly employees are often prohibited from speaking with other employees about the union at the workplace on work time and that union organizers are often barred from the premises completely, requiring union supporters to discuss unionization efforts with their co-workers outside of the workplace altogether.

I have no problem with that at all. I was just (semi-jokingly) responding to comments about intimidation at the employee's home.

Somebody is taking what I said too seriously.

Darla, you aren't talking to civilized human beings. Don't try to reason with barbarians.

Yes, like my brother playing on a sandbar by the creek next to my grandfathers house when he was 12 and a redneck coming in from the trailor park across the creek and threatening to kill him if he didn't leave. Guns do real great.

you don't think that a mob of thugs harassing and bullying families to prevent the father from joining a union should be shot, or at least held at bay by daddy pointing a gun?

right. I'm a fucking lunatic for wanting people to be able to effectively protect themselves from bullies. :321:

you fucking moron. do you think for even one second that the shithead needed a gun to bully your 12 year old brother? get your stupid ass out of a thread that requires logic, idiot.

The current union process is ridiculously complicated and provides way too much opportunity for the employer to threaten and intimidate the worker. What is wrong with nomination by petition again? Should we abolish petitions?

Anyway, this just makes it easier. Employers can go home, distribute the cards amongst their fellow employees, and come back the next day unionized, without the employer spending 45 days bullying and intimidating the employees by telling them lies like "We'll ship your job overseas" or "The union won't reward work it doesn't care it just wants everyone to get an equal pay raise like socialists". You'll always make more money than you would without the union even if you were the best worker in the entire company.

It's time to do with away with the Taft-Hartley union creation procedure.
So how exactly does open voting cure this? The same threats of shipping jobs overseas would still occur, the same threats from people who are responsible for my advancement would occurr. Hell if I think my voting for a union might cost me a promotion then I WANT a secret anonomous ballot. Why would I want ANYONE to know how i voted?

Just wait. President Obama will keep his promise to the unions. And guns need to be taken away from racist hotheads for obvious reasons. President Obama's Supreme Court judges will rule the right way.

This. And no matter what they say, the intimidation can go both ways.

People from work could go home, distribute the cards, get them all signed, and then come back to work the next day unionized without the irrelevant management mucking with things.
