Crowds flock to reopened Jacksonville beaches as Florida hits record coronavirus case

well I truly hope that is correct & rings true into the fall~no second wave...

I have read that temp & water break it down......... Fla, Louisiana are going to be heating up as the testing is way behind the curve..

Sadly the rural areas, the least capable of dealing w/ this are now coming under siege like the large urban areas & many are not going to be hot & humid for a few months +/-

What makes you think rural areas are least capable of handling this virus? Looks to me like the cities (NYC, LA, SF, Phila, etc) aren't doing so well. They spread this China virus all over the Northeast coast since Cuomo waited too long to make his idiots stay home and out of PA. (for one).

Humidity stops most viruses dead, it's now warming up in Florida and the humidity is in the 80s! Same story here in Thailand, only 47 deaths in a population of 69 million. Mind you it probably helped that all Chinese tourists left the country back in February.

You have been told how this is different and you refuse to respect it. Go out when you feel like it. Corona will not touch you.

If humidity kills it why is it affecting the beyond humid jungle areas of S.America and Africa? Some people are just clueless, desperate, or like Havana and are a combo.

Good morning domer76,

Yep, I recognize a pattern already. Unabashed willful ignorance and dumbfuckery.

Try to get off that train, new guy. Do something different than the RW tards on this form. Educate yourself before you post.

You could be more welcoming to newcomers.

What. Are you trying to prevent more participation in the forum?

Good morning Bill,

Why would they decrease?? I would think as summer heats up those beaches will be packed..

Fla does not have an exclusive on stupid either..

They opened a local beach here as well, but it is still cool here but that will change soon + we started isolating sooner... It is the next county over from Santa Clara Co, the worst county in the bay area for the virus, & home to silicon valley...

My guess is after the novelty of going to the beach wears off there will be less crowding. People will settle into routines. Umbrellas and chairs are not allowed and mid day is prohibited. It's just for walks and visits, a swim. I never found out if they even opened up the bathrooms. Closed bathrooms would limit time spent at the beach.

Bill, do you really think you are in danger of catching Covid on the beach? Seriously?

I don't know about CA, but I've never had to get close to strangers on the beach even in the busiest times of August. And there is wind galore so the chances of breathing in droplets is nil.

As it gets hotter I think this will fizzle out like other flu's and colds. Will it return in the Fall or disappear like SARs and MERs? No one knows. Hopefully the latter.

if Cinnibun had bothered to read the link he would know that Politifact verified the picture was taken on March 30, 2020......

And how many of those people are going to work as opposed to a joy ride? Does that look like a joy ride or rush hour?

Cinnibun has a good point.....everyone knows the virus is ineffective during rush hour......and of course, the people going to the beach were crammed into their cars with their spouses and children......

Hello Nordberg,

I read a long article by a guy who did the history of 1917-8 Spanish flu. It followed the same pattern this one is in regards to people getting tired of having to stay home. If you went out the police could fine you. The people bleated about their rights being taken away and pressured politicians to open everything up. After a battle, the authorities relented and opened up. That is when the Spanish flu really took off. We did not get any smarter in a century. The same type people are saying the same stupid shit and it may get ugly again
Trump figures that opening up may risk human lives, but if it works he will get a boost for 2020. He has no trouble risking citizens' lives for such a noble purpose.

Right on. Yeah, I saw the double peak curve from 1918 ThatOwlWoman posted.

DT has no good options. If he does the right thing he pleases his opposition, who will still not be motivated to vote for him, but if he forces things too soon then more die. I guess that explains the wishy-washy saying one thing at the daily TV rallies, then tweeting another afterwards. No big surprise he's trying to have it both ways. The image management master conman at work.

Hello Bill,

Total Tests
262,495
Positive
26,314

I hope it works out well......

Thank you for those state-wide numbers.

Duval County (Jacksonville) today has:

839 positive cases

75 hospitalizations

15 deaths

15 positive non-residents

New Cases by day:

4-16 37
4-17 30
4-18 22
4-19 16

If they're all going to die in this is a good thing to you you should be cheering them on. Chances are 99% of them will survive if they catch the Chinese virus. So what they're doing is creating immunity through antibodies. what would you say sealed up in your plastic bubble scared of everything the rest of the world will leave you behind.

If you spend all of your life being terrified of death, you never live.

That's great as long as you understand the issue that way and the people doing this picture do also. The problem is that is not the messaging.
The message is that it is safe now. We know that Trumpvid19 started with one person or a handful, and in 6 months is a global pandemic with
hundreds of thousands dead. The exchange is the economy for increased and further death. And the reckless aren't just betting their own lives in that wager.

doubtful on the bathrooms. what happens is people drive upand park at public access sites,
and then walk to the beach and then back to their cars.

It's pretty damn safe. corona aren't going to survive on a beach, and bathrooms would be a hot spot.

Lucky bastards. I can't wait for the pool to open up again

Pool?!?

Ya wouldn't catch me going anywhere NEAR a public or semi public pool.

Being in a pool with or after other people is not my idea of Social Distancing.

Maybe the chlorine is enough to zap the bugs. I dunno. I wouldn't take the chance.

Is pool water safe?

Or is it a highway for Covid transmission...

I don’t like public pools even when things are “normal.”

Hello leaningright,

I don’t like public pools even when things are “normal.”

What was that comedy where the family is at a public pool and the kid comes up to the parents and says "Hey, don't pee in the pool. I heard they put something in the water that makes your swimsuit turn blue if you do that." And then the view shows the parents both have big blue spots at the crotch...

chlorinated pool is as safe as it gets. stay away from the deck chairs - but the pool in inhospitable to virus

That seems logical, I don't find ppl always acting in a logical manner..

Yes, during the hottest part of the day they are "suppose" to vacate...lol It will be slowly/gradually rolled back, police etc looking the other way...

Hopefully you're more correct than I.......
