Not one Democrat spoke up for ten months when the rioting, looting, burning, assaults and murders were happening. Dementia Biden only spoke once he saw that it was hurting him in the polls.

Trump supporters were assaulted in the streets and in restaurants.

It is very sad to see so many Republicans so determined to destroy any American unity in their desperate attempts to retain power. I listened a recording of Mr Biden from way back in 1987 on Radio 4 last night, entranced: after four years of that fat, strutting, posturing clown Trump, an ordinary decent human being was like the end of a dreadful nightmare. Congratulations, American friends, and welcome back to the human world!
 
To those who would wish to continue blaming the other side I would ask: what do you hope to accomplish with that?

The election has shown we are a nation with two different sides, two different sets of beliefs.

The election has shown that neither side has any hope of taking complete control and minimizing the other side.

We are going to be sharing this nation and neither side is going away.

How do we move forward?

The best thing we can do is let bye gones be bye gones and try to govern ourselves together with a divided government.

For that, we need meaningful communication, not name-calling nor insults.

Our challenge is to learn to respect each other for what we are.

your own statement shows why it will never happen. you claim you want mutual respect and unity, yet also claim to want to minimize the other side........as if that minimization will silence them and force them to conform to the other sides political bent and will........

no amount of meaningful communication or lack of name calling is going to allow that. the last 20 years of bitter antagonism between left and right has created an inflamed infection that will ultimately result in the death of the victim......

We are at a point in our history where optimism could very well be the first sign of dementia.
I'm very serious about that.

You don't force people who, with good reason, truly loathe one another, to live in the same house.

That forced the Soviet Union to disband.

That forced Yugoslavia to disband.

That forced Czechoslovakia to disband.

We're still trying to survive as a dysfunctional union, and we're failing miserably.

I honestly believe that Americans don't want to live peacefully.

What I am getting is that a lot of people want to blame the other side for our problems.

That doesn't pass the sniff test.

We are a nearly equally divided nation.

Whatever we are is a product of both of our halves.

Blaming and finger-pointing is not going to solve anything.

Name-calling accomplishes nothing.

We have to have a truce.

We just had an election. We had our say in who should run our government.

The results are mixed. And there is dispute about the outcome. That will be resolved and we will have one president. That president will be Joe Biden unless something extraordinary happens, which is extremely unlikely.

Our challenge is to look forward not back. We have to recognize who we are and figure out how to live together in peace.

Each side will have their say in what we do.

Each side needs to give up on silencing the other side.

Yes we have our differences. We also have a lot in common, and it is time for us to remember that and start talking about what we can and should do together.
