Time To Recognize Who We Are; Reunite America

Hello Saudade,

I would point to the record voter participation and say that indicates otherwise, that citizen involvement in our system of self government is alive and well.

If the high voter turnout is actual votes, yes. If it is fraud, no.

There are parts of the country that have seen massive turnout increases that are extremely unlikely to happen without fraud.

Accusations with no evidence. You are the problem.

Hello votebiden,

Where is the power? In an oligarchy, or plutocracy.

Hillary was the oligarchy. Trump was the oligarchy.

The oligarchy benefits from promoting the idea of a divided nation.

We elected Biden but we didn't reduce the division in America.

The election shows how divided we are.

Biden narrowly won. Almost half the voters voted for Trump.

We cannot pretend it was a landslide. We are strongly divided.

If we try to pretend that is not the case, then we are fooling ourselves.

This is a very strange argument. I never expected to be in a position to have to make the case that we are divided. Very few people would even try to make the case that we are not divided.

There, actually, is something the left and the right in America can agree on.

We are strongly divided.

It is time for the Trump administration to show evidence of his claims. So far, it looks like false accusations, and that is hurting our country.

I agree.

And the divisions don’t end there. Democrats are divided and they are going to have some work to do. With the exception of the top of the ticket there was a modest Red Wave in the election which is [well, should be] a clear signal to Biden that he needs to lead as a moderate if he is serious about uniting the country.

The dirty little secret is that one of the reasons we are divided is because Democrats have lurched so far to the left in recent years. Huge swaths of the country want nothing to do with defunding cops; they don’t want to gut the energy sector; anti-racism is perceived as anti-white racism; and on and on.

And the people who do advocate these things aren’t easily placated—these are radical notions being pushed by radicals. If you doubt that, just look at what was going on in the streets all summer with the tearing down or statues; businesses destroyed; the violence; people having their meals disrupted in public by thugs of every stripe.

There will be no healing with that going on. Forget about it.

So, if Biden wants healing he needs to marginalize the radicals. If he does it I’ll be very surprised.
