Lead by example...

What? I simply cleared up a misconception on your part, I do not promote forcing others to pay more to pay down the deficit, I support a cut in spending. However, I clearly indicated that if I did support taking more money from others I would indeed be a hypocrite if I did not send in what I believe is "right" for others.

If you are unwilling to do what you believe should be the action of others, you are literally participating in hypocrisy.

And, Yurt, since you said I changed Damo's meaning - here is one of the posts where he says that you need to be willing to do what you believe should be the action of others.

you're talking about two different things. one is his role as CIC, the other is his personal responsibility. that you would even try to equivocate the two is sad. if i tell people that i should pay more taxes and don't...that is not leading and is hypocritical.

The President has never told people they should voluntarly pay more in taxes, he has said that the government should require the Rich to pay more in taxes. That aside, what is the difference between duties as CIC and his civil duties, why does that make a difference?

Again, I seriously doubt Paul Ryan is refusing to take his government paid healthcare!

Then it follows that every idiot who supported Bush's war in Iraq should have gone to the front line.

The chickenhawks would have never let that war happen if that were the policy. In fact no war would happen if that were the policy. You want war? Shape up and get in line. We have you scheduled for first air drop in.

I do not belive that is the way it should be, in fact its absurd, just as absurd as calling the President out for not voluntarly paying additional taxes.

i don't what is with you lefties an analogies, but you have no clue what an analogy is. paying taxes and going to war are two very different things. for example, if a teacher asks her students to do their homework, should she lead by example and do the homework as well? of course not, because that is not leading by example in the case of a teacher. now...if she said they should healthy and she doesn't, that is not leading by example, because eating is something they all can do, whereas her doing the homework is not part of her job.

i really hope that clears it up for you guys.

cite where said they should only "involuntarily" pay taxes.

that is not him saying a CIC should carry a musket into battle. thanks for admitting you have a serious reading problem.

It terms of the standard normality in which we live, you are correct, however, we do not need war. It may seem to be a lofty ideal or a pie in the sky vision, but we truly do not need war and the sooner we stop having them the better.

It doesn't matter what his role as "CIC" is; that's completely irrelevant.

He mandated that people get in harm's way, and he didn't. Personally, I don't hold him to that standard, so I didn't expect him to. But you and Damo are trying to shift your main argument, which was that Obama wants to mandate something specific, and isn't doing it personally.

Bush's mandate had nothing to do with duties as CIC - it's about what he's asking/mandating that others do.

Since I am on the subject though, in our government it would never work that way anyhow, because our military is civilian controlled.

The amazing thing is this stupid OP got 273 responses and over a thousand views. I think this is a pretty strong indictment of just how bored we are.

Willard Romney sat out the Vietnam war, which he supported, in France. If you support a war, should you not volunteer?

We'll have to ask Damo if that makes him a hypocrite. It seems to me that it does, but I don't have the same dictionary.

Now THAT is a shite analogy.

You're a really dopey person, Yurt.

No, dopey - it's him saying that in order to be a good leader, you have to do what you're asking others to do.

Goddamn, is that stupid...
