The President has never told people they should voluntarly pay more in taxes, he has said that the government should require the Rich to pay more in taxes. That aside, what is the difference between duties as CIC and his civil duties, why does that make a difference?

i don't what is with you lefties an analogies, but you have no clue what an analogy is. paying taxes and going to war are two very different things. for example, if a teacher asks her students to do their homework, should she lead by example and do the homework as well? of course not, because that is not leading by example in the case of a teacher. now...if she said they should healthy and she doesn't, that is not leading by example, because eating is something they all can do, whereas her doing the homework is not part of her job.

It terms of the standard normality in which we live, you are correct, however, we do not need war. It may seem to be a lofty ideal or a pie in the sky vision, but we truly do not need war and the sooner we stop having them the better.
