you don't want to do that. My experience with the officer corps in my last unit soured me on almost all officers, so given that, I'd say that you were never a Marine at all.
Possibly, the only thing good I experienced as a Marine was the brotherhood of those I served with...........and even that wasn't 100%. So, if you consider someone who blindly follows orders, with implicit trust in their commanders and civilians in charge, the only mark of a true Marine, then you don't really know what a Marine is in the first place, officer.
the same as I did with anything Trump did.
1) he was the CIC, so he could do it, his prerogative
2) it pissed me off even more about civilians not knowing a damned thing about respecting the advice of military commanders, making me even happier I didn't stay in longer than 6 years
