What I'm wondering, given the two flight paths and that this was annual, routine training, why was this helicopter's flight path routed through a major airport's landing pattern at all?
Because the shooter was a retard and didn't know squat about where to aim.

If it was a routine training flight why make it go through some of the heaviest air traffic in the area, along with several large airports and restricted air space?
