Depends though battle. Many women I know are strictly business and are analytical people almost to a fault. I've known some men who are overly emotional and dont' think things out enough.

Statistically men may act more rashly based on emotions anyway especially with younger men. Why do men pay higher car insurance premiums and why is the fact that a man is married thought to be a pacifying influence on a man that makes him act more rationally?

I have worked with great women managers who've been great mentors and know their stuff in an out. I can name 5 off the top of my head that I work directly with. So no, "girls" don't prefer men as bosses, women prefer good managers - period.

That is total and utter BS. As a female manager, I take personal offense to it.

Side note: Actually my boyfriend had a woman as a manager that he liked 10x better than the person who he's currently working for.

Perhaps when you say this is not the behavior of a lady you mean it as the analog to gentlemen in the same way one would say that wearing a fuck you T-shirt to a formal event is not the behavior of a gentlemen.

However today the connotation of asking a woman to behave as a lady infers that behaving like a lady is to behave in a way that is pleasing to men. Now this may not be your intent but it appears this way to the younger generation especially females.

If you had said her use of the STFU acronym was crass then we wouldn't have gone on this tangent however asking a woman of today to act as a lady is going to be universally condemned as sexist regardless of your intent.

One may also question if you would have commented if a man had done the same. Perhaps not and this would show you have different standards of conduct for women then men which is also sexist.

Although such usage of the word 'Lady' may not have inferred anything in the days when you were our age it does now and you would do well not to use it like that.

Beyond that understand also that language is fluid and evolves usage of STFU on an internent message board doesn't actually indicate very much about the demeanor of a person using it.

this is all about physical characteristics. We are talking about management which is mostly mental. Is it your assertion a manager should be physically dominant over their subordinates. This isn't the Mongol horde.

Men and women have tendencies to be different mentally in some areas but this shouldn't be considered until after weighing the merits of a person.

I'm not one of the those people who value gender diversity for its own sake. If the marines require a recruit to do x number of pushups the number should be the same for both men and women. But if women can meet the physical requirements then let her in.

Regardless this has nothing to do with managment.

1. Yes that is my picture, and I happen to be 78.

2. I am not sexist in the least, but this type of speach is also one on my pet peaves. In person, and a man uses this type of language, I tell him about my displeasure. and ask him to stop around me. I do the same with a woman, usually It only takes the telling once, and they remember. however, I have kicked a man off my property for continued use of profanity, and if anyone still continues to use that type af language around me, I simply refuse to talk to them That kind of talk simply is not necessary The ones where the wost problems occur are with kids. but usually they pay attention to me as well. I have also told kids they couldn't come back if the continued to use obcene language.

I give women every benefit if the doubt, if in deed there is any doubt. but foul language from anyone is disgusting, and when a woman uses it and then signs herself off as a lady, I open my mouth. Unfortunately most men have a foul mouth. so it is harder to control.

I can respect that Don and although I will not self-censor in general I will respect you by not using profanity when addressing you.

I hope that by the same token you try to be respectful of the sensibilities of others on here regarding language.

This is of coure difficult as we do not know each others standard well ahead of time although truth be told you are the first person I have encountered on these boards who reacted negatively to language of that sort but of course that state of language was in a much different state then as you grew up in a time when saying I don't give a damn in a film was controversial so I understand.

Know however that use of such language means very little to us and is not venemous, scurrilous or uncouth....it's just how we talk. Unfortunate by your view but natural to ours.

Oh well let us learn from one another.
