Let me introduce myself... I'm a conservative from Canada.
Bully for you. You will show that you are not a conservative at all in a moment.
There are many things I like about conservatives. I appreciate their sense of shrinking government to keep our taxes low. I'm completely against deficit-financing unless there is a bad recession, war or national emergency. I'm against political correctness. I don't support the climate cult... The list goes on and on. What I can't understand about American conservatives is their obsessions with guns.
You ARE about political correctness. You just revealed your hand here. I hope you show up MY poker table!
I live outside Toronto, and I've only seen one hand gun in my life.
Then you know nothing about guns.
If I had to guess, I think less than 1% of my suburban neighbors has a hand gun in their house.
You ARE guessing. You will also make some other pretty serious fallacies in a moment.
Some people have rifles for hunting.
You are still guessing.
If you draw a picture of a gun in a high school, you will get an automatic suspension.
It must suck to live in such paranoia.
To be honest, I'm glad no one has guns...
They do. You are not denying your own guessing, and making an argument from randU fallacy. You don't know who has guns around you.
There are a lot of stressed out people,
Must suck to live like that.
and my first concern with people owning a firearm is suicide.
There are 300 million guns in the United States...roughly the same as our population. Yet only a few commit suicide each year. The usual choice is by gun or by poisoning. Recreational drugs cause a lot of deaths, but they aren't listed as suicide.
In this day and age, anyone can lose their mind...
True. So?
and if you happen to have a gun in proximity to someone who offends you, some people might use it.
Shoot back.
So America has a serious problem with mass shootings.
Actually it doesn't. The papers make it out a lot more than it really is. Mass shootings are actually quite rare. Don't believe the fake news.
I don't get why conservatives want to support the NRA?
For the simply reason they promote the safe use of guns, and support keeping the government's mitts off of them.
Are you really worried about the government going tyrannical,
Government agents have before. Remember the Clintons?
and kicking your door down
They have before. Remember the Clintons? Remember Ruby Ridge? Waco? The Gonzalas incident? The Oklahoma ranch incident? The Bundy ranch incident?
to send you to concentration camps?
In the Ruby Ridge and Waco incidents, those people were killed. The Gonzalas kid was sent to Cuba. The Oklahoma range and Nevada ranch incidents were when the government agents were forced to back down.
Go talk to the American indian about losing to government agents and being forced to live in reservations.
I don't see the government breaking into anyone s homes....
It's already happened. It continues to happen. You just refuse to see it. It happens in Canada too.
but I hear about some school shooting on the news at least once a week.
No, you hear about the SAME school shooting week after week.
I doubt any of these are false flags....
They are.
They're just pissed off bullied kids,
We used to kick 'em out of school, or even arrest them, long before they became a lethal problem to others.
who decide they want to kill a few people, before they take their own lives.
Shoot back. People that do end the situation right there.
So the promotion of the second amendment
Nothing to promote. The 2nd amendment is law. The right of self defense is also inherent.
is having real world consequences....
Yes. Despite the gangs and their warfare, the drugs fucking people up, the polarized atmosphere in U.S. politics, and the some 300 million guns in the United States, our homicide rate is quite low. So is our suicide rate, which is actually similar to that of Canada.
Why don't conservatives feel any shame about their extremist second amendment rhetoric?
It's not extremist It is not rhetoric. Is is the law. Guns made this country free. Guns are what keep it free. Guns are what protect Canada's interests as well.
The problem isn't guns. The problem is your own paranoia, borne out of you unfamiliarity with guns or history.
With mental illness on a steap time, isn't it time we stop selling semi-automatic weapons?
No.
You don't get to decide what type of weapon people in the United States want to buy. Neither does our government.
