Ban on same sex marriage ruled unconstitutional by Texas Judge

Again you build a man of straw. The State doesn't care what two adults do in their church or their bedroom. The State simply defines marriage as a union that benefits a civil and Christian society. The State and Federal governments then reward those in traditional relationships certain privileges, and these privileges don't affect the rights of gays.

also... you are incorrect in calling them 'privileges'... they are rights...

Property rights, visitation rights, rights of inheritance etc... you are discriminating based on your RELIGIOUS views. That goes against the US Constitution.

How is it a strawman? The government DOES currently issue MARRIAGE licenses. Also.... YOU just stated that the government should be involved in telling us who is allowed to be married and who isn't. BOTH are the government taking a role in the religious ceremony of MARRIAGE.
A civil license isn't a religious ceremony. *shrug*

We are not a "Christian" society. While we certainly can see the influences of Judeo Christian beliefs within our society, the Constitution clearly states everyone is entitled to their own personal religious beliefs and that there shall be no government mandated religion. While I believe we have seen cases where separation of church and state has been taken to the extreme, it is still a fundamental part of our countries constitution.
If you had followed along with the sequence of posts instead of just reading one you would have realized that the "State" that I am referring to is North Carolina, which does maintain that it is a Christian State. See post 57.

No marriage is a privilege; the rights that you have enumerated are not denied gays who file the proper documents, such as power of attorney, etc.

Marriage is a religious institution. This is like saying "The government doesn't care what you do in church, but it defines communion as grape juice and wonder bread so that alcoholics can partake." The government doesn't have the right to define any religious institution, including marriage. Not at any level, including the State level.

It's rubbish, you begin with a religious ceremony then say that they "just define it, not direct it." Your argument is disingenuous from the beginning, is built on a foundation of sand, and continues therefore from beginning to end as a flawed structure.

And the US Constitution expressly forbids a state religion. It gives all its citizens the protection of Freedom of Religion.

Perhaps you should argue against my point of view instead of trying to attack motives that you assign to them.

The 1st Amendment does not restrict the States from doing anything such. Solitary is full of shit as usual. Now I suppose that you'll attack my wife or children.

So the gays have to fill out paperwork for each individual "priviledge", while straights get a package deal by getting married?

Interesting definition of equal opportunity.

Also, the IRS does allow the same tax breaks for gay couples.

The federal government bestows benefits on people for getting married, and then denies gays the same access to marriage. That is simply discrimination.

Nah, been there done that, and I leave kids alone.

Are you saying that the federal government cannot have an official religion, but states can??

Wow so they have to file some paperwork. Legal Zoom will charge them less than they spend on lattes.

So implement the Fair or Flat Tax plans.

Most of the States had their own official Christian Sects when the Constitution was written, and held that status for many years afterward. Welcome to American History 101.

You are dancing away from the topic again.

The federal government gives some people the benefits based on their being married, and denies others the same access to marriage.

I have spoken many times in favor of the Fair Tax, but that is not the topic here. There are plenty of good reasons for switching to the Fair Tax. To cover for discrimination is not one of them.

Gay marriage will happen. The sooner the better.

And it has been ruled unconstitutional in case after case after case.

Welcome to American History 102.
