Black NFL players send Goodell a memo demanding racial justice!! NFL is 70% black

That's your paranoia brother .. not mine.

Poor play gets better .. protests get solved.

I read my (black) friends debate this (the not watching of the NFL). The argument gets into can black folk stand together and give it up. Of course it's not my position to say what black folk should do here and I believe to each his own. But let's say black people do boycott and stand together. Y'all make up a good portion of the fan base. Ratings won't come back if that's the case

Bingo on the last sentence.

Sports is an escape for the working class. Speaking for myself, I work all week waiting for weekend football and when it's time for football, I don't want to hear about politics.

If these guys want to indulge in politics or make political statements [which they have every right to do] they need to do it on their own time and away from the field.

If the NFL had any gonalds they would make a good business decision: all players shall stand for the national anthem. They would get some fans back and problem solved.

The NFL is one of the largest businesses in America. It's a juggernaut .. but you think they should listen to your advice. :0) Ok

Colin Kaepernick jersey is No. 17 best-selling jersey of May 2017

Not every black person believes we should boycott the NFL. That's not a universally accepted argument.

We stand together in the knowledge that we must use our voices and whatever means necessary to bring about change.

Those who choose to boycott, I stand with them.

Those who choose not to boycott but put pressure on the NFL, I stand with them as well.

And by change you mean more affirmative action right??? There is no GIANT WHITE CONSPIRACY holding down blacks. You have the same opportunity as everyone else. What you don't have is brains. Most black american adults can't even read.

Look where it got kapernick and current ratings. Ultimately TV contracts will be renogtiated and we'll find out the real effects then.

No we won't. The networks and the NFL will inflate the numbers by a factor of 2 or 3 to make everything sound rosy. They'll have a tough time explaining the mt stadiums though.

A lot of studies that claim otherwise

Not the studies used by Atlanta government to bring this stadium into existence.

Atlanta is a major hub for conventions, conferences, sports, and entertainment.

50% of all growth in Georgia happens in Atlanta.

The city and its citizenry are happy with the stadium. We don't care about outsiders who aren't.

United fans bask in record-setting MLS crowd

ATLANTA

The MLS single-game attendance record belongs to a first-year expansion club.

Atlanta United's crowd of 70,425 Saturday at Mercedes-Benz Stadium had everyone buzzing about the new game in town.

"It's incredible," MLS commissioner Don Garber said. "I think it says that there are really no limits. We never really expected this to happen."

I'm just going by deplorable ratio Hillary established. Probably puts that at about 25% of football fans are trump voters and thus racists. This is your own fucking logic I'm using here

Nope, that's just the bullshit illogic you use everyday.

If you don't like football .. don't watch it.

This may be the first time I've heard a socialist celebrate a billionaire getting public welfare.

Your boycott is similar to the AT&T union boycotting the new Apple phone in hopes to get better union deal with their employer AT&T. The NFL has nothing to do with police killing citizens. I actually agree with the cause and I want to see police stop getting away with murders, but I fail to see how disrupting the entertainment is the appropriate approach to getting real change. Everyone is aware of the issue. Stomping your feet and exclaiming you won't do something until something else is fixed but not offering any solution is just an empty gesture.

What exactly is the next step for the viewer? What are the boycotters asking us to do? I have no idea. I understand the problem they are pointing out but I have no idea what they want done.

I don't watch it and couldn't care less about it. Enjoy your pointless boycott. Let us know when you come up with an idea about what you think needs to be done about the problem.

http://blogs.reuters.com/great-deba...t-sports-bastion-of-white-male-conservatives/

Why does the NFL have such a tenacious hold on the national consciousness — particularly that of white males, the primary fans of professional sports? It might be that the NFL, in both its high points and its low ones, encapsulates the prevailing white male conservative ethos of modern America better than any other league. The triumph of the NFL is a tribute to the triumph of American conservatism.

LOL

Good questions.

The fight for social justice is meant to be uncomfortable. Meant to cross lines that others will not.

Police murders and the movement to address them are more important than how many people watch a football game.

For many years, players were chastised because they played the game and said nothing about the social injustice all around them. Players themselves felt trapped, too afraid of losing money to speak out.

That was then. Today, players feel emboldened and empowered to take a stand against injustice .. no differently then when Ali took a stand, no differently then when a raised fist spoke volumes to the entire world.

Viewers are free to do whatever they want. Those who don't like the players for whatever reason are free to turn it off. But no doubt that the vast majority of fans and viewers will be tuning in .. with many in support of their causes.

The path to change is not always pretty, rarely universally accepted.

Ali most certainly disrupted entertainment .. and became a hero for the world because of it.

If you believe that police murders must be addressed .. speak to that brother. Entertainment will survive.
