Sorry Bill, is that not the received wisdom Stateside? They admire the UK for standing up to the big bully, they all have massive problems of their own with the EU and Merkel attempting to force them to take Muslim migrants against their will. When you see what's happened in Germany and Sweden, who can blame them?

Johnson has turned down freedom of movement, so even if the ones in the UK are grandfather claused in, there would be no new ones. There is no evidence that all of them will be able to stay, but even if they are, the lack of new people coming over will cost Eastern Europe.

The whole point of Brexit was to cost Eastern Europe. It was anti-Eastern European sentiment. You think they do not realize it?

Johnson is about as popular in Eastern Europe as trump is in Mexico.

No, I do not blame them... It's their country, they should have a say in that... That is an aspect of brexit I would agree w/..

What I am asking you, & perhaps you don't know, is why did those countries get a veto on migrants & not the Brits??

Good, we don't want freedom of movement, why shouldn't the UK be free to control its own borders? Do you think they have freedom of movement in Australia, New Zealand or Canada? BoJo wants to implement a points based immigration system along the lines of those already in place in those countries.

They didn't get a veto, they just refused point blank to take any immigrants and told the EU to get stuffed.

My daughter in law comes from Saigon. She couldn't stay in the UK after gaining an MBA here without getting married. She then had to wait five years and shell out over £10,000 to get visas. Theresa May made it extremely difficult to get work visas because of unrestricted migration from the EU. Why should she have to do all when Roma could come to the UK without let or hindrance? Every time she goes to the US on business she has to apply for a new visa, as she doesn't qualify for the visa waiver scheme. Now at least, having finally got a British passport, she won't have to do that in future.

Great, but when you tell countries to "get stuffed" they will not like you, and will not want to do you favors. The EU has offered the UK the best offer available. It is now for the UK to decide whether to take it or not. There is nothing better coming.
