Clearly some of the inhabitants of the old Confederacy feel some sort of historical sympathy for their dead ancestors, as we must remember - whereas others, like the Jews now living in Germany, remember with horror what was done to theirs under the monstrous evil of slavery. What's needed is understanding and firmness. Family feeling must not be allowed to degenerate into racism, not ever.

From June 14, 1777 when the Continental Congress passed the first flag act until the 13th amendment abolished slavery in UNION states such as Delaware and Kentucky, the Union flag represented a far greater level of slavery than the Confederate states ever did.

But more importantly, the Bill of Rights still protects those freedoms. So you are spinning your wheels.
