Confederate Statues

Leave it to a Conservative to go to a hyperbolic extreme like this.

Why have any history?

You're under the mistaken impression that these statues contribute to history. You've been unable to explain how they do.

You're under the impression that if they're gone it will change history.

Monuments literally glorify and/or honor the people and things to which the monuments were built.

The Treason monuments shouldn't have been built at all. No one built monuments to Benedict Arnold after he did what he did. No one built monuments to the British troops who died on our soil in the American Revolution or the War of 1812. No one built monuments to the Japanese in Pearl Harbor, or the Nazis.

But only you want to build and preserve monuments to Confederate traitors. The reason is because you share their values; treason, white supremacy, losing.
They were built for a reason. It's a part of this country's history. If you don't like the fact that "Silent Sam" will be put back in place, don't visit the UNC campus. If a student is so offended that they are unable to walk by, head north....this has nothing to do with "sharing the values of treason, whit supremacy, or losing". It has everything to do with people like you are unable to live life at the moment...without using the past as some kind of excuse for whatever personal frustrations you are unable to deal with...

Of course they are historically valuable‘....they're a part of the history of this country....

HOW? The statues are part of the history of Jim Crow and white supremacy. But the statues don't make mention of those things. So how are they "historically valuable" since they ignore "the warts" and only present a sanitized, glorified version of people who were traitors?

If it were up to you, would all museums be cleared of anything that represents a horrible or difficult time in history? So that some would not be offended by the past?

No, of course not. Because those things do provide historical knowledge and history.

The statues don't. They glorify traitors while sanitizing what made these people traitors.

It's obvious you share the values of traitors, since you're so defensive of monuments to them.

Live life in the moment?

That's hilarious coming from someone literally defending something built in the past to memorialize and sanitize the past.

You should take your own advice, pal.

Look man...these statues clearly mean more to you than to me. Why is that? Because they present a glorified and sanitized view of traitors, with whom you share the same values.

Own your treason.

The Boot Monument erected in 1887 commemorates Benedict Arnold and was erected after Arnold did what he did unless you're willing to say 1887 is before 1780.

Apparently they mean enough to you to support criminal activity. Own what you stand for, coward.

If you're really unable to tolerate a historical monument or a historical museum, that's a personal problem. Do people not learn from a visit to the Holocaust museum...or an exhibit of the Underground Railroad? Do we just get rid of everything ?

So what history do the statues serve? Because they only seem to be sanitizing traitors through glorification.

Tell me dick weed, there are two identical Silent Sam statues. The only difference between the two is one doesn't have a cartridge bag with CSA on it. Would you object to putting the the statue back up minus the cartridge bag?

Oh how does a unnamed statue with no plaque glorifying anything?

*You're the one who can't deal them...I'm fine;)

LOL!

The monument makes no mention of Benedict Arnold. In fact, it takes great pains not to mention his name at all.

Sure you did

No I didn't, liar.

All you can do is lie now because it's second nature to you as a piece of poor, Southern, white trash.

You are trying to foist that silly straw man on me because you are insecure in your own shitty argument.

If you're really unable to tolerate a historical monument or a historical museum, that's a personal problem.

If you need a statue to help you remember who lost the Civil War, then you need psychiatric help for the memory loss caused by brain damage and/or mental illness.
