And, why is that a good thing? The military doesn't go out of its way to recruit specific nationalities or races--or it shouldn't. It does try and recruit quality people however. My observation is that most, the vast majority, of the LGBTPDQRSTU+- whatever community is ineligible for military service in one way or another. That starts by noting that a serious majority of Americans are ineligible. Right now, only an estimated 23% are eligible.

Military recruitment is down. Why don’t young Americans want to join?

A diminishing pool of Americans are eligible to join the Army, Navy, or Air Force. An even smaller pool want to.

I said not one word about soldiers speaking a European language. I spoke a European language and I was used as an interpreter. We used our own resources for interpreting. All of the AT controllers had to speak Spanish.
