Yep. Someone who is personally despicable is infinitely preferable to someone who wants to do despicable things to everyone else. The Left has a long history of the later. Pilot lights are definitely the way to go. However, a piezo ignition system requires very little power. It be run on a car battery for quite some time. The circuit only draws power during the light-up sequence.

Pilot lights do not need electricity at all, Sybil. On some water heaters, a piezo igniter lights the pilot light if it goes out. Once lit, the piezo circuit isn't drawing power. On others you light the pilot light yourself using a match. Long stick matches are made for just such a use.

You can power the needs of a piezo igniter for many days with just a car battery.
