Florida *MANDATORY* evacuation orders

What a "mandatory" evacuation order does is absolve the state of liability if you ignore it. They won't come an arrest you for ignoring it, nor will they do some other heinous act against you. Instead, if you choose not to evacuate, you're on your own and you can't blame the state for not warning you that something bad could happen.

Florida does suggest if you stay, you write your name on your arm in permanent maker so they'll know who you were when they find your corpse...
What it does is make it very clear, that in spite if right wing news, staying in what appears to be dangerous storm may result in your death.

Agreed. OTOH, as the great comedian Ron White once stated, "you can't fix stupid".

"Influencer" Caroline Calloway is going to ride out the storm in her Sarasota beachside home. The beach where she's at can expect storm surge up to 15' and waves pounding her house into scrap lumber.

At the time of posting, Calloway revealed that she was still in her home alongside her cat, with her bathtub filled with "backup" water in case she lost electricity. "We have food but it's kind of scary and... yeah, I'll keep you guys updated," she concluded, before showing her followers a clip of Tampa Bay Mayor Jane Castor saying that if you don't evacuate, "you will die."

he then turned to X, formerly Twitter, to once again post about her not leaving her home during the hurricane. "I'm not evacuating for the hurricane. I live in Sarasota, on the beach, in evacuation zone A," her post began....

...Many people in the comments section...Please if nothing else just save the cat."

Other commenters urged Calloway to evacuate Florida for the sake of her cat, rather than herself.

"As a person you can endanger your own life, please get your helpless cat out of there though," one person wrote in the comments, while another user said: "Girl do you still have your cat?? It's a very likely scenario that you have to evacuate last minute and leave him, GET OUT."

Agreed. Another reason to be against mandatory evacuation orders. It allows Floridians to self-select based upon intelligence and education with an end result of raising the average IQ and education of Florida.

Sybil is another MAGA nutjob who is against mandatory orders from gub'mint:
You do not support Trump, Sybil.

What is the difference between a mandatory evacuation order for Florida residents to leave their own homes and a state order that people in restaurants wear masks during a pandemic?

Short answer: When it's a Red State, it's okay. When it's a Blue State, it's not.

Why is CNN standing at the pier in Tampa today?

evacuation order so they should be charged...

They have a hurricane proof bunker to shelter within. If they didn't, they'd be reporting from a location that does.

Agreed, unless they had a permit. Do you think they are unauthorized to be there? What about the Fox reporters? Should they be arrested too if they don't have a permit?

Why does this bother you so much, vols?

If you're standing on the railroad tracks and a train is coming at you, it is pretty much mandatory that you get off the tracks unless you have a death wish. It's a pretty obvious law of physics. Monster hurricanes are a lot like trains in that way. You got to follow the science.

As far as those stupid masks go, I used to go to the store with a bandana worn outlaw style or a paper towel rubber banded behind my ears (It frequently fell apart before I finished shopping, but no one ever said anything, and I haven't been to a sit-down restaurant in 15 years).

No, that's just common sense.

I'm talking about laws for force people to evacuate their homes. Isn't that one step from forcing them to give up their guns? Call it an "emergency" and then clean them out? Don't you see the problem here, Calli?

I dont see a straight Milton thread so I will put this here:

I have been on the beach exactly where it came ashore, my Grandparents Crozier retired to Bradenton and lived there for about 25 years....and my dad's middle name was Milton.

I am also noticing existing plans to turn Tampa into a 15 minute slum.....they bosses of the city might not mind at all extensive destruction as its assists their urban renewal program.

No permit needed, Sybil.
